Photo: Dros Y Dwr

Dros Y Dwr suits couples, small families, or friends looking for a self-contained base on Porthmadog's waterfront. The apartment spreads across two floors: downstairs is an open-plan living area with kitchen, a second bedroom with a double bed, and a shower room; upstairs holds a second bedroom with two single beds. A balcony accessed from the living space overlooks the harbour. One car can park on site, and one well-behaved pet stays free.

The kitchen is equipped to cook properly, with electric hob and oven, and essentials like heating, electricity, bed linen, towels and wifi come as standard. The High Street is within walking distance, as is Allports Fish & Chips. Families often visit for the Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland Steam Railway, or the miles of sand at Black Rock Sands; Portmeirion is a short drive away. The Llŷn Peninsula nearby is designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, with coastal and mountain walks, and regular sightings of dolphins and seals. Inland, Zip World at Blaenau Ffestiniog offers zip-wire activities, while Bounce Below takes visitors underground into old slate caverns fitted with trampolines. Harlech Castle, a UNESCO World Heritage site, lies further down the coast. Check-in is after 16:00 and checkout before 10:00; smoking is not permitted.

I have had the pleasure of visiting this stunning apartment several times and it leaves me utterly enchanted. Nestled perfectly overlooking the charming harbour, this hidden gem offers an unforgettable coastal experience. From the moment you arrive you are captivated by the breath-taking views You can walk to the coastal path and explore the picturesque beach coves or head to the drive-on beach at black rock sands, making it an exceptional destination for families. The location is truly a dream come true and provides an opportunity for exploration and tranquillity. Whether you're a leisurely walker or an avid hiker, the options for discovering the natural beauty of Wales are right at your doorstep. The surround attractions range widely and include steam trains to zip wires. Slow & steady an adrenaline rush like no other. For those eager to delve into the wilderness, the proximity to Snowdonia presents an incredible opportunity for invigorating hikes and breath-taking vistas. The apartment itself is a testament to modern comfort and convenience. Designed with families in mind, it provides everything you could possibly need for a comfortable stay .
