A long gravel drive through oak woodland leads to Y Nyth, a restored farmhouse near Corwen in Gwynedd. The approach is deliberately isolating—a steep, winding track that demands a 4x4 vehicle, especially in winter—but this seclusion is precisely the point. Once you arrive, the landscape opens out to genuine quiet, with views across farmland towards the mountains and very little light pollution at night.
Inside, the two-bedroom, one-bathroom cottage has been updated with comfort in mind. The living space centres on a substantial fireplace and wood burner, where you can settle in after time outdoors. Underfloor heating runs throughout, and the shower is a proper walk-in. The kitchen is equipped for cooking, and small luxuries—a barista coffee machine, a cocktail set—are there if you want them. Wifi, electricity, bed linen and towels are included. Car parking is on site, though you'll need a capable vehicle to reach it.
The setting suits walkers, stargazers and anyone needing real isolation. Dolgellau is within reach for supplies and restaurants, and the coast, lakes and Eryri's walking routes are accessible for day trips. One dog is welcome. No smoking inside.
