About Gilson Hotel

A restaurant and bar sit at the heart of Gilson Hotel, on Anlaby Road in Hull, giving guests a proper spot for breakfast or an evening drink without leaving the building. Breakfast is served on site, and drinks can also be brought straight to the room, which suits anyone who has arrived after a long day and wants to settle in quickly.

The hotel has 59 rooms and is set up for more than just overnight stays, with meeting rooms and a wedding venue available alongside the usual comforts. There's a lift for easier access, a garden for some outdoor space, free WiFi throughout, and concierge services on hand for local advice or requests. Free on-site parking is included, which is a genuine convenience in this part of Hull, and airport transfers can also be arranged.

Staff are consistently described as friendly and helpful, and the hotel is well regarded for good value and reliably hot water. That said, some rooms have been reported as poorly kept and occasionally musty, so it's worth bearing in mind alongside the strong service. Hull Paragon Interchange is close by, making onward travel straightforward.

Really nice guy on reception but everything else 0 stars! Extremely loud buzzing all night in room, more rusty than the titanic and right by a 5g tower. Also you cant flush anything down the toilet and they claim to be green but only in a way that saves them money. eat your tofu and save the world.

Absolutely disgusting, definitely the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. The rooms and hall way had a really bad foysty smell couldn’t even have a coffee in the morning as you could taste the foist on the cups. I wouldn’t even rate it 1 star. How this hotel is still open is beyond me. Even the locals knew how bad the hotel is.. all in all hull is vile what a horrible place

Ok for a cheap hotel, but not cheap! Very concerning policy of taking a photocopy of ID document (driving licence / passport). Not aware of any reason why a hotel even needs to see such for UK citizens (never been asked anywhere else) but see absolutely no reason for a copy to be taken. Was told no room key without copy of ID - beware....
