About The Gardeners Country Inn

The Gardeners Country Inn has the feel of a long-established country pub-hotel, with a homely, traditional style that sits comfortably on Hull Road on the edge of Hull. It's the kind of place built around its bar and restaurant rather than sleek design, and that character comes through in the welcome from staff, who are consistently described as friendly and professional.

Rooms are en-suite, with family and accessible options available, plus drinks available in room. That said, some rooms show their age and haven't always been kept in top condition, so this is a stay better suited to those after a traditional, comfortable base rather than polished new interiors. The restaurant is the clear strength, with a solid reputation for its Sunday roasts and a kids' menu that goes down well with younger guests. Breakfast is served, and there's a bar and outdoor seating in the garden for warmer days.

The inn also functions as a wedding venue, complete with a bridal suite and meeting rooms, and free on-site parking makes it an easy stop for drivers. Nearby, guests can find golf, fishing, and further pubs, bars and restaurants, making it a workable base for exploring Hull and the surrounding East Riding countryside.

A tale of two half's.... Staff are very friendly, welcoming and chatty. We were told that there would be a wait for our main course but that was fine. We had Gammon, fish and chips and a scampi and chips. All were really tastie lovely food. BUT...... Second half...ordered deserts. 2 ice cream Sundaes and an Apple crumble. We waited that long that we thought we had been forgotten. When it finally came one Sundae was wrong, all vanilla and asked for all Strawberry and the ice cream had nearly melted, they did change it. Also they were not Sundaes, it was just 3 scoops of ice cream in a bowl! Maybe more staff would help, as two members of staff clearly isn't enough to give quicker service...

This pub has been closed since last year. It has now reopened and is being run by a young couple. The atmosphere is very good with friendly land lady. The service is very good despite being in the bar on her own. Serving both drinks and food. The food is excellent being good pub food. We will certainly be going back again soon.

Visited this restaurant from a recommendation from a friend the service and food was excellent. we was checked on through out our visit by Tom who i believe is the manager he has great knowledge of the area the building and the products that the restaurant offer. I would ignore any negative reviews as of recent as we have been in a few times and never had an issues.

Food all seemed bare minimum. Staff nice and resolved issues I had with drink not being fizzy but that happened twice in a row, was then replaced with a bottle. Chips were homemade which is nice but were both soggy and raw-tasting and flavourless, fish and chips was a bit funny tasting but okay, chicken burger unpleasant and hard to eat, dry and flavourless. Staff are friendly but I think improvement is needed.
