About Sligachan Campsite

Tucked beneath the dramatic Cuillin mountains where Glen Sligachan meets the hills, this no-frills campsite occupies one of Skye's most spectacular locations. The site itself is fairly basic – flat pitches on grassy ground with clean facilities including showers, electric hook-ups and WiFi – but campers consistently praise the genuinely stunning mountain views and the walking opportunities right from your tent door. The old Sligachan Hotel next door serves food and real ale, handy after a day on the ridges.

Some visitors note the facilities can feel a touch dated and midges can be fierce in still weather, but for hillwalkers and climbers who prioritise position over polish, this is a properly legendary base. Dogs are welcome, and the atmosphere is relaxed and outdoorsy – expect fellow campers comparing route notes rather than polishing caravans.

We sailed past here a couple of times in 2021. I’m not sure it’s normal for this area, but we had the most unbelievably calm seas. It was truly glorious.

Skye is an absolutely wonderful place. I wish I had been able to spend longer there, and that I could return! ❤
