With just a handful of spacious hardstanding and grass pitches, this tiny, tranquil haven feels wonderfully secluded – you might even spot rare red squirrels darting through the planters – yet Keswick and Cockermouth are each around 15 minutes' drive away.
A spa next door offers the perfect rainy-day retreat, while outdoor enthusiasts can walk to Lake District Wildlife Park in five minutes or stroll to The Lakes Distillery for gin and whisky tastings. Bassenthwaite Lake itself, one of the region's most unspoiled waters with no settlements cluttering its shores, is barely five minutes by car. With mountain biking, sailing and climbing all nearby, plus a motorhome service point and dog park on site, Coalbeck punches well above its weight for such a small, peaceful spot.

The site for camping is a lovely sight. Very dog friendly, the owners a very welcoming, facilities are very clean. Me and my partner had a lovely stay and would recommend this to friends and family and definitely return.

Owner Sid was amazing. So helpful. Location is well placed and on a local bus route as well as being close to local towns. Site was quiet and well maintained. Stayed in our own vehicle so the rating is for the pitch. Lovely to just be able to sit outside without all the usual noise. Motorhomes & vans only.

What a fantastic 2 day stay in my camper van. Sid the owner was spot on. Helpful and friendly. The 5 pitches and facilities were just perfect. Own toilet block, wet room. Cutlery and plates can be washed. Dirty water facility as well Wildlife park, not even 5 mins away. Bassenthwaite lake near by. Lakes and mountains around the corner. Cheers Sid.

Lovely compact site with spotless toilets & showers. Good hard standing for motorhomes & campervans. There is WiFi too (phone signal poor) I agree with all of the good reviews on here, Sid does this place proud 👏 Easy walk to Armathwaite Hall hotel (where you can eat & drink), the wildlife park is next door, in fact we could hear the Gibbons shouting for their breakfast, you don't get that at any other campsites. Also a little walk to The Castle Inn, where the food is good too.
