About Seven Oaks Guest House

Seven Oaks is a four-star guest house on Acorn Street, a quiet residential road a few minutes from the centre of Keswick. It is a traditional Lakeland stone-built house run as a small, owner-managed operation, and it has picked up awards for its standard of accommodation and service. The scale is deliberately modest, with five bedrooms and no attempt to be a hotel.

The rooms are named after climbers and fell-runners with Cumbrian connections: Wainwright and Bonington are the superior rooms, larger and better appointed, while Hinkes, Joss Naylor and Tasker are standard doubles. All are en-suite, kept to a high standard, and equipped with good beds, decent showers, wifi and hospitality trays. The house is quiet in the evenings, which suits its clientele of walkers and couples.

Breakfast is the strong point. It is cooked to order rather than held on a buffet, with Cumbrian sausage and bacon, local eggs, porridge and a full vegetarian version, and the owners will adjust timings for guests setting off early on the fells. Packed lunches can usually be arranged. There is no evening meal, but Keswick has more pubs and restaurants per head than almost anywhere in the national park, all within a short walk.

The position is genuinely convenient. The market square, the supermarket and the bus station are around five minutes on foot, Derwentwater and the launch jetties around ten, and Latrigg, Walla Crag and the Borrowdale valley road all start close by. Free parking is available, which matters in Keswick. It suits walkers, cyclists and couples who want a well-run, straightforward base rather than facilities they will not use, and it books up early for spring and autumn weekends.

We had a lovely 2 night stay at Seven Oaks Guesthouse. Mark and Marie are the most wonderful hosts and made our stay so comfortable and enjoyable. We appreciated all the small touches such as home baked cake being left in our rooms every day. The breakfasts were delicious and everything was cooked to perfection. Mark and Marie were very knowledgeable about the local area and gave us and other guests great recommendations for both walks and food/drink spots. We will definitely be staying here again during any future trips to Keswick. Thank you so much!

We recently stayed at the Seven Oakes Guest House for 2 nights while walking the Cumbria Way. The location was close to the center of town but a couple of blocks out so it was quite even on the busy holiday weekend. Upon arrival, we were greeted by Marie and Mark. They are wonderful hosts with lots of helpful information about the area. We were shown to our room where our bags were and fresh homemade cake awaited. The room was perfectly clean and comfortable. In the morning we we treated to the best breakfast of our walk by far. I'd highly recommend the pancakes (actually delicate crepes) which are served with fresh fruit and syrup of choice including real maple. Marie will pack a nice lunch for you for an additional charge. We took her up on this and it was plenty of fuel to get us through a 15 mile walking day. Marie and Mark are two of the best hosts that we've stayed with on these long distance walks. (We've done 4). Thanks again.

We’ve just returned from another wonderful stay at Seven Oaks Guest House and once again it exceeded all expectations. This wasn’t our first visit, and it certainly won’t be our last! From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with such a warm and friendly welcome from Mark and Marie, who truly go above and beyond to make you feel at home. Their hospitality is second to none and nothing is ever too much trouble. The breakfast is absolutely outstanding, freshly cooked to order with a great selection, and easily one of the best we’ve had anywhere. It’s the perfect start to a day exploring Keswick and the surrounding area. The whole place has a lovely, homely feel, and it’s clear how much care and attention Mark and Marie put into making every stay special. Having stayed before, it’s wonderful to see the consistently high standards and welcoming atmosphere that keeps us coming back. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Seven Oaks to anyone visiting Keswick, a truly fantastic B&B run by genuinely lovely hosts and a great base for exploring Keswick and the surrounding areas. Already looking forward to our next stay!
