About Ferndene Guest House
St John's Terrace sits within easy reach of Keswick's surrounding fells and the waters of the Lake District, making Ferndene Guest House a handy base for anyone drawn to this corner of Cumbria. The town itself is well placed for walking and cycling routes, with golf, fishing and watersports all within reach for those wanting more than a stroll by the lake.
Rooms are en-suite and come with drinks making facilities, and breakfast is included to set guests up for a day on the fells. A packed lunch can be arranged for longer walks, and the garden offers a quiet spot to sit once boots are off. Free on-site parking and 24 hour reception add a practical edge for those arriving late or travelling by car.
Pubs, restaurants and other eateries are all nearby, along with entertainment options for evenings in town. It's a straightforward, well-located choice for exploring Keswick and the surrounding countryside.
What guests say
A very nice guesthouse only a few minutes walk into town. There's also a short cut to the lake past the Church. Breakfasts were good with good cooked options. The rooms were clean with the usual tea/coffee etc., hairdryer and room fan. The staff are very helpful and you can get discounted launch tickets from Duncan. An enjoyable week's stay.

Just had our first stay here, on arrival we got a very warm welcome from Tsige and their wonderful dog Billy. We stayed in room 4 (top floor) which had a lovely view. The room was immaculate and the bed was very comfortable. The breakfasts are well organised (fill a form in the night before) and are delicious and a great way to start the day. It is ideally located to walk into the centre of Keswick (about 5 minutes). Had a lovely chat with Tsige and Duncan when we returned the first night, he is from our region (North East). Nothing is too much trouble for them if you have any extra requirements. Parking can be challenging, especially if you are parked first. Could be an issue if you are planning a day out in the car and the people who park behind you are out walking. Luckily we spent our 2 days walking round Keswick so was no issue for us. All in all, it was a very pleasant stay and ideally located. We will definitely stay here again on our next visit.

This is the 2nd year at Ferndene Guest House. I can’t recommend them enough. You are greeted with a lovely warm welcome. Your room is beautifully clean. Our view of the church and mountains is lovely. The breakfast is always hot, cooked well and plentiful with lots of options. Ziggy and Duncan can’t do enough for you. Caroline who helps with breakfast is bubbly and friendly and offers lots of local knowledge of where to go and what to find. It is within 5 minutes walk of the town and 10 minutes walk to the bus station. We will be back again next year.
