Goodwin House suits travellers heading to the Lake District for the fells rather than the nightlife - walkers, cyclists and anyone happy to start the day with a proper breakfast before heading out to Derwentwater or the wider National Park. With just six rooms, it runs on a more personal scale than the larger hotels in Keswick, and the on-site parking is a genuine help in a town where street space is tight. Rooms are en-suite with mountain views from many windows, and each comes with free WiFi and drinks provided. Breakfast is the highlight of the stay, with a varied spread that includes homemade granola and cakes, and packed lunches can be arranged for a day on the hills. Staff are attentive and know the area well, happy to point guests towards routes, pubs and restaurants nearby. Keswick itself puts golf, fishing, horse riding, cycling and watersports within easy reach, alongside walking trails straight from the doorstep. Evenings can be spent at one of the nearby pubs or restaurants before an early night ahead of the next day's outing. It is a straightforward, well-run base for exploring Cumbria rather than a destination in itself.

Chris & Liz were the perfect hosts. They were were very friendly, professional and knowledgeable about the local area. The room we had (6), was very clean with a comfy bed. We were away easter Friday -Monday myself and my partner and 2 friends . Had a fantastic time Chris and Liz amazing hosts nothing is a bother . Food delicious, all dietary needs catered for. The home made granola was amazing .Liz made cakes for easter for all guests. Refreshments in room Tea/coffee and milk always available. . Rooms were spotless extremely comfortable. Would definitely recommend.

Had a very good time. The guest house is well-situated for Keswick town and some nice hikes nearby. The rooms were very spacious. The hosts were very accommodating, especially for dietary requirements. Would choose to stay there again.

The owners here are so warm and welcoming. In every aspect they go the extra mile to make sure you are happy and well catered for. The breakfasts are exceptional and rooms very comfortable. A very good location on the edge of the centre. It was also possible to find free parking on the street outside. I can't recommend this place enough.
