Me and the boy have just had a class weekend here. We rented one of the cabins, the Loft, for two nights. Got there Friday night, settled in, slept well. Then the main event on Saturday morning. 0930 caving with Instructor Dave. Turns out just us in this session too so it was like I’d booked a private session. Our Harry was a little nervous but Dave was great with him from the beginning to the end. We had an epic time, exploring two caves all morning. We were both buzzing about it. We had a class lunch in the cafe, little man loved the glass floor over the gorge. Then after lunch we chilled in the loft cabin for a bit then went into the gorge and Tommy Taylor’s cave and counted 35 cave spiders! By the end of Saturday we were both knackered so slept well again. Sunday we checked out and went home via Stump Cross Caverns which are also worth a visit. What a weekend we had. Thanks to all the team at How Stean. We’ll be back for other activities for sure.

An absolutely fantastic experience; it's a great adventure to walk along the rocky gorge and follow the river. The cave experience was lovely too! After our walk we had a nice cup of tea in the cafe to warm up and the views to the gorge from there were super beautiful!

We last came to How Stean Gorge back in early 2001 and this time we were back with our son and daughter. The gorge itself is as we remembered and is an excellent experience - highly recommended. The cafe has undergone significant changes since we were last here, and although ok, has lost a lot of the home cooked charm we remember from all those years ago. Overall, however, I would still recommend a visit if you are in the area.

We did the abseiling and gorge walk and we loved it. I was a bit nervous but instructor Mike was lovely and took good care of us. It felt safe and exciting at the same time. The gorge is beautiful and it’s a special experience to walk in there through the water. Would definitely recommend it. Lunch and coffee at the café afterwards, yummie food and lovely setting surrounded by nature and a view on the gorge.
