Trough Cottage is a stone-built farmhouse cottage on the southern slope of Holme Valley, part of a working sheep and beef farm accessed via a cobbled driveway. The building sits on the edge of Peak District National Park, with views across the valley that stretch from the garden. One dog is welcome on the property, though it must be kept on a lead as the surrounding land is used for livestock.
Three bedrooms accommodate five guests: a double with its own shower and toilet, two singles sharing a bedroom, and a further single room. The main bathroom has a bath with shower over. Downstairs, an open-plan living and dining area centres on an electric woodburner, with a kitchen equipped for self-catering. Essentials including heating, electricity, bed linen, towels and Wi-Fi are covered in the price. The front garden has a patio and seating for outdoor meals, and there is parking for three cars on site.
Holme is a village, and Holmfirth is minutes away. The Upper Valley offers extensive walking and cycling routes, making this a practical base for exploring the northern fringes of the Peak District. No smoking inside the cottage.
