What diners say
I visited Velvet taco today for a quick lunch before getting a train. When I saw it wasn’t authentic Mexican tacos I didn’t have high expectations but this place is actually really great. They do some traditional Mexican style tacos and the rest of the menu is fusion food tacos that is changed regularly. I had the beef birria and the buffalo chicken. The beef birria was decent, and the consommé was delicious. One of the two beef tacos had very little filling which was disappointing. The buffalo chicken taco was INCREDIBLE. The buffalo sauce was the nicest I’ve ever had and the blue cheese sauce was delicious. I will definitely be back to try some more tacos and a margarita!

Went for dinner and margaritas with my girlfriends and velvet taco did not disappoint. We had a selection of the chicken tikka, hamburger, Biria and fish & chip tacos. They were divine, such an interesting flavour profile that works so well. Their margaritas were impeccable, perfect alcohol to flavour ratio! Will definitely be back!!

Had a great experience at Velvet Taco. The food was absolutely spot on – bold flavours, fresh ingredients, and a really unique take on tacos and food bowls. Food was well balanced and packed with taste. A special shout-out to Amrutha, who served us. She was incredibly warm, attentive, and made the whole experience even better.

As a Texan and Velvet Taco fan, I was overjoyed to hear they were opening in London. When I finally got a chance to make it over there the tacos and margaritas did not disappoint. I had my go-to chicken and waffles that was spot on! And I tried a different taco, the brisket one, and loved it. However. As a self proclaimed queso enthusiast… and lover of Velvet Taco’s Queso Blanco… I was severely dissatisfied and disappointed in the queso they served tonight. Nacho cheese ballpark nacho dip with a dab of chimmichurri and cilantro. It was hard and flavorless and all kinds of upsetting. Plus the portion was tiny! Dear Velvet Taco London team, I get it! I’ve been trying to make queso in London for 2 years now, failing to produce the correct texture, taste, and satisfaction that one finds back home. But I was hoping for better than this. Not to mention the false advertising of your photos showcasing the classic, creamy Velvet Taco Queso Blanco on your menu. Please, as chefs and experts, R&D this item and try to improve it. I’m not asking for perfection, I’m just asking for more than what I experienced this evening. All my love, your fan, -Alicia.
