What diners say
St. JOHN Bakery was on my bucket list but we didn't plan to try since all of their three locations were far from our destinations. We visited the one at Borough Market by accidentally getting off at the wrong underground station to Borough Makert. The decor is humble, simple & narrow-spaced and it's easy to miss if you don't pay attention. The options were limited and there were only three flavors of their signature cream puff. We got one Vanilla Cream Puff to share and it was decent but not really special or delicate as its reputation. It's not worth a detour, but you could give it a try if you are in the neighborhood.

The sourdough white bread is fantastic! It’s easily some of the best sourdough in London! However, the customer service felt a bit passive-aggressive. Since they don’t have a bread cutter, they have to hand cut the loaves when you ask for one. This makes the whole experience a bit uncomfortable because they don’t seem too eager to cut a whole loaf. I’ll be back, but I might try another location in hopes of finding one with a bread cutter and better customer service.

How have I not tried this bakery before?! Please do not make the same mistake as I did - do not avoid the perfection you were missing in your life. Their bakes are divine! Tried minced pie and .. well, now that I eat Mitchelin-Star-Worthy one no other ones will taste as good. Cannot wait to try more of their creations. Also, have you noticed (don't know if it's in every branch) they have their beer! I bought Eccles Stout to indulge on. Fabulous!

I’m so astonished by all the negative reviews… This place is AMAZING!!! Great location, tables (with chairs!) in front, great selection of bake goods (both sweet and savoury), delicious coffee and, most importantly, the most outstanding customer service! I’ve been repeatedly served by the wonderful young lady Caitlin and I am honestly so so so grateful for all her warmth. Thank you! ❤️ I’ll certainly be back. Please, make your day and pass by this place. And again, on repeat!..
