What visitors say
Somerset House is lovely. I went to see the MC Escher exhibition and really enjoyed it. It was very informative and engaging, with some interesting and somewhat immersive experiences. I also ate at the Café Petiole which is located on the south wing of Somerset House. This is a lovely arts centre in a great location and with plenty of things to see and do, including a good offer of free events. The inner courtyard is really nice to enjoy, especially on a warm sunny day. The place is clean with well maintained restrooms. Selected areas are free to roam around. MC Escher is a paid exhibition but well worth experiencing. And I recommend visiting Café Petiole.

I came to an event here (Laughterama). It is a very civilised setting and the staff are very helpful. Good characterful buildings here. Goo for outdoor events. It is on a big plot. This can make it a long walk to get in the main entrance.

Outdoor comedy event in the courtyard! How amazing was that. Easy acessibility and facilities. Great location, in the Strand, with theatres, restaurants and bars everywhere. A short walk takes you to the Thames. All in all, lovely experience in a brilliant location.

Exhibition was great. Did not take kindly to being told that they were only allowing 5 minutes in the projection room which was a compilation of artwork. I paid the admission fee so intended to stay to see the the full film. If they oversold tickets that was their problem. As it happens it was only busy for a short time so they could have easily managed it better. Very poor organisation imo.

Visitors say this historic building offers excellent art exhibitions and a beautiful courtyard that transforms into an ice rink in winter. They also highlight the helpful staff and the variety of food and drink options available.
Some reviews mention the ice skating can be overcrowded.
