About Blades Hotel

Seventeen rooms is all Blades Hotel has, and that modest scale shows in the antique furnishings and personal touches that give the place its character. Set on Belgrave Road, it's the kind of small London hotel where staff know the building well and can point guests toward the nearest pub, restaurant or bit of evening entertainment.

Rooms come with en-suite bathrooms and are kept clean and comfortable, though there's no air conditioning, so those visiting in warmer months should bear that in mind. Breakfast is served on site, and practical extras include free WiFi, luggage storage and a 24-hour reception for late arrivals or early starts.

Vauxhall is around three-quarters of a mile away, giving quick access to the wider Underground and rail network, and Chessington World of Adventures is often mentioned as a nearby point of interest for those wanting a day out beyond central London. It suits guests after a straightforward, well-located base rather than a resort experience.

The Blades Hotel offers small, cozy rooms (and tighter en suite water closet to match) in quintessential European fashion — there’s little room for bags, so pack lightly. The almost residential neighborhood (ie, away from tourist traps) offers coffee shops and local grocers literally down the street. Transit to nearby Westminster Square (or anywhere) is convenient, courtesy of the tube station a mere 5 minute walk away. That said, regulations were imposed in 2004 to preserve the historical condition of the hotel. As a result, the hotel has no lift and no air conditioning — although electric fans are provided. So, pros: - European charm - Calm, very convenient location with access to public transit and other services (ie, more time to spend seeing the sights) - Friendly staff - Affordable pricing Cons: - No air conditioning and no lift (ie, be prepared to carry bags upstairs) - Linens changed every 5 days, towels every 3 days - No late checkout - No bags held after checkout (for security reasons) Other nearby hotels do have amenities like AC, ice machines, lifts, late checkout, etc. The Blades offers that older, European charm and a no-frills stay at a lower rate. Decide where your priorities are, and book accordingly.

Great location and staff were lovely. Unfortunately rooms very dated and overpriced. Also no A/C There’s no where to leave your bags after check out (our flight wasn’t til later in the evening) and they also don’t allow any packages to be sent there (I needed to order a couple of things from Amazon I’d forgotten to pack).

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A Truly Welcoming Stay! This may not be the biggest or most luxurious hotel, but the warmth you feel here is something many 5-star places can’t offer. The moment you walk in, you’re greeted with genuine smiles of Magdalena and a welcoming atmosphere that makes you feel at home instantly from staff too. The cleaners deserve a special mention — they keep everything spotless, fresh, and comfortable every single day. Their kindness and attention to detail really stand out. If you’re looking for a clean, friendly, and truly inviting place to stay, this hotel is a little hidden gem. I would happily come back again! 🌟 Thank you Yllka Thompson
