Cheap and Cheerful! Better Than Expected! After reading so many terrible reviews, I wasn’t sure what to expect, but I was pleasantly surprised by the whole experience. You really do get what you pay for, and in this case, it was more than fair for the price. The staff were absolutely lovely, always greeting me with a smile each day and happy to help whenever I needed anything. That made a big difference and added a really nice touch to the stay. I had a room on the top floor which, yes, was a little damp and could have been cleaner in places, but it was perfectly comfortable for the week. The tea and coffee station was well stocked, and cleaning was offered daily, which was great. For the brilliant price and the excellent location, I’d happily stay again. It’s not luxury, but it doesn’t pretend to be. It reflects the cheap price paid and for me, it was just right. Cheap and cheerful!

I always try to leave positive reviews and never negative ones as usually a negative experience is a one-off moment and not consistent with the place I am reviewing, but this hotel certainly deserves less than one star from the minute you walk in with blood stains on the doorstep that haven't been cleaned up properly and the smashed window sneakily concealed by a no smoking sign. The experience just goes downhill from there. The reception desk and the staff members behind it were like nothing I've ever experienced before at any hotel, you have to see it to believe and I have added photos rather than say anything too negative. We were given a double room downstairs in the basement area which stank of rising damp. The bathroom not only didn't have a lock on the door. It didn't have door handles. Just a hole where the handles used to be, and there was mold on the bathroom walls. The shower was also leaking so badly. You could only stand in half of it or it would burn your feet from the boiling water pouring out of the Taps. In the bedroom area there was a skylight that was covered in mould. You couldn't open it and on the outside it was overgrown with weeds, there was a blind to pull down away from the window, The blind had mould on it and also paint stains strangely enough. There was paint peeling off the walls by the bed. And the walls were stained with dirt The bed was unbelievably uncomfortable and we actually slept on top of the quilt because we were too concerned to take a look at what was underneath. We booked a double room but we're only given one bath towel to share. Also we were there for a couple of nights but only giving enough milk for one cup of tea or coffee and no cleaner came and topped anything up during the day or left us an extra towel. There was no fridge in the room in case we had purchased our own milk to use. The television had no remote and the buttons on the back where we could have changed channels manually were missing. So there was no option to even search for a channel as nothing was tuned in on the TV. I must confess I didn't actually complain to the reception staff as when I went to, there was another family complaining about the state of their room and the lack of care he was showing them showed me it was quite pointless to even make the effort, so I will be complaining to hotel com instead and hopefully get some result from them. Although the hotel was a fantastic price, for what we experienced, it was way overpriced for the condition of the property and its amenities. To top it all, outside the hotel I asked the other complaining family what they were experiencing, and as if a comedy sketch moment happened, another hotel guest (who I am guessing, without stereotyping, is one of the refugees that are coming across on the boats to the UK as they seem to be everywhere) cheerfully walked past us and into the hotel holding a dead pigeon saying he had caught his dinner for the evening. Would I recommend staying here? If you really don't care and just want a bed for the night then it's cheap and cheerful. But if you have any self-respect if it wasn't the for the fact I was only there for a couple of nights I would definitely suggest reconsidering your options and decisions.

Nice location and that's about it. Don't believe the pictures on their website, as they were probably taken 30 years ago. London was experiencing a heat wave, and there was no A/C and not even a fan to move the air. We went down to a local hardware store and bought a fan, but it wasn't enough. Worst nights sleep ever. The bathroom door was missing the door knob, so we used a bungee cord to keep it shut. We caught the desk clerks sleeping behind the counter. The maid service was spotty at best. The wifi was very weak, couldn't hold a connection more than a minute before it kicked you off. It was a Fourth floor room and no elevator. The staff didn't offer to carry our bags up. Absolutely horrible. The only things that were OK were the price and location. Basically a horrible hotel in a good location. DO NOT BOOK! When we got to the hotel we were told to leave the key in reception each time we left the hotel, and if the key got lost it would be £40. So it didn't feel safe to leave any of our belongings in the room. Once we got to the room, we found the wall lamps was hanging off the wall with the wires exposed, the bed was brown from the dirt and moldy. But worst of all was finding loads of bed bugs crawling around!! Spoke to the receptionist and asked for another room cos of the infestation, but apparently no other rooms available. So had to book another, much better hotel. Upon leaving they magically had another room available, but we did not want to stay a second later. No help from the receptionist on how to get a refund. I hope a health and safety inspector comes and shut this place down! Would give it minus stars if possible
