About Columbus Hotel
Free on-site parking is not something many central London hotels can offer, but the Columbus Hotel manages it, along with a compact 13-room setup on Sussex Gardens that keeps things simple and manageable. The location puts guests within reach of Hyde Park and Paddington Station, useful for anyone arriving by train or heading out to explore the city on foot.
Rooms are unfussy, with drinks available to have brought up, free WiFi throughout, and a lift for easier access to the upper floors. Mornings bring a continental breakfast buffet in the restaurant, and there's a bar on site for the evening. The hotel also has a garden, meeting rooms, and space set up for weddings, alongside luggage storage for those with early check-outs or late departures.
Beyond the hotel, the surrounding streets offer pubs, restaurants, and other eateries within easy walking distance, plus entertainment options nearby. It's a straightforward base rather than a destination in itself, suited to those who want a no-frills stay with parking sorted and central London on the doorstep.

We came on one of the hottest days of the year. All of the rooms are small and have minimal capabilities for air circulation. Where they do, the weak fans provided barely move the air. In the ground floor room, the window doesn’t stay open, and the balcony is locked “for safety reasons.” I’m skeptical of this - base on other events that happened during our stay, my understanding is that the owner lives in the hotel and doesn’t want to be disturbed. The location is good, but that’s about it. Stay anywhere else.

As a female solo traveler I felt safe here. It was quiet, the staff was super nice and the breakfast is simple but fine. The location is a five minutes walk away from Paddington Station. The neighbourhood seems also to be quite safe.

I wish I could give a 0 to service... As someone mentioned in the comments before, there's a very rude lady in the reception. I think the staff should be aware that they are working in a hotel, and, most of their clients will be indeed foreigners that may be not as fluent as a native english speaker from UK. If they cannot speak other language than theirs working in a touristic place (something that's quite suprising) the least they can do is be respectful with clients that try their best to speak and understand English and not mock them in their face several times, which is what this lady did to me. I work in a touristic place back in my country and being nice and helpful to customers and trying to understand them wether they are speaking their language, english or my language (which I really appreciate, no matter their level) is the bare minimum. The staff here is not accomplishing the bare minimum sadly. No lift, extra small rooms, and extra small "bathroom". Good location though. Wouldn't really recommend it to be honest. If someone doesn't like their job they should change it.

If you're traveling with kids, would not recommend this. The room is so small bathroom is airplane size more on portable toilet size that's with a shower. No AC although it's cold enough outside you can open windows, however bugs will totally all over. Smells musty, No elevator very hard to take our luggage when your room is on 3rd floor. However the front desk lady i would totally give her 10 star. Sabrina she is so helpful and take care of us and very attentive. We were please with her service make sure we get everything we need from settling us for breakfast. Thank you Sabrina!
