About Great Scotland Yard Hotel part of Hyatt
Step into a room at Great Scotland Yard Hotel part of Hyatt and you'll find air conditioning, an en-suite bathroom, in-room drinks and the option of room service laid on as standard, along with free WiFi for catching up on messages or planning the day ahead. It's the kind of thoughtful detail that runs through a building with real history behind it, an elegant Victorian property that once served as a police headquarters and now carries that character through into its guest spaces.
Downstairs there are two restaurants, a tea room and a bar to choose between, so breakfast, a quiet coffee or an evening drink can all happen without leaving the building. A gym is available for those keen to keep up a routine, while concierge staff, laundry service, luggage storage and meeting rooms make the hotel a practical base for business trips as much as leisure stays. Accessible rooms and childcare are also on offer, and pets are welcome.
The location puts Westminster and the River Thames within easy reach, with plenty of restaurants, pubs and entertainment nearby for exploring London on foot. It's a central spot for anyone wanting to be close to the city's landmarks while returning each evening to a hotel with a genuinely distinctive past.
What guests say
I stayed at this hotel for almost two months,(25.May-25.July)and it truly felt like a home away from home. Every member of the staff treated me like family, always making me feel welcome, comfortable, and genuinely cared for. A special thank you to Mohammed from the breakfast team. He has an incredible ability to remember each guest’s preferences and needs, and he greets everyone with genuine warmth and kindness every single day. His professionalism and dedication made every morning a pleasure. I truly believe he deserves to be in an important leadership position at this hotel because he represents the very best of its hospitality. When I return to London, I will definitely stay at this hotel again. Thank you all for making my stay so memorable.

Long overdue review from 2021. We were in London for business reasons. Couldn’t be bothered to travel home, so checked into Great Scotland Yard. The whole experience was amazing from check-in to check-out. The staff were warm and welcoming; they made our stay extra special by adding little touches. They have wooden keycards instead of plastic. The rooms are finished to a high degree of comfort. The onsite bar has lovely cocktails. We had breakfast, which was delicious. The hotel is in a good location. Wish I had taken more photos, but I hadn’t started doing reviews.

I can’t say enough good things about the Great Scotland Yard Hotel. From the moment we arrived, every single member of the staff we interacted with was genuinely warm, welcoming, and attentive. They made us feel less like guests and more like extended family—without any of the family drama! Our room was beautiful: modern, exceptionally comfortable, filled with natural light, and equipped with plenty of convenient outlets. The shower was fantastic and exactly what you want after a day of exploring London. Breakfast each morning was outstanding. I’m still thinking about the incredible sourdough bread and honestly wish I could have packed a few loaves to take home. We also spent time in both hotel bars, and they were highlights of our stay. The bartenders were incredibly talented, creating inventive, perfectly balanced cocktails that could easily compete with some of London’s best craft cocktail bars. We were only here for two nights before boarding a cruise, but I could have happily stayed much longer. The location is ideal, with several transportation options just a short walk away, making it easy to explore the city. And for Harry Potter fans, there’s an unexpected bonus: the famous “secret entrance to the Ministry of Magic” from the films is right across the street! This hotel exceeded our expectations in every way. We wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone visiting London.

I stopped by for drinks and had such a fantastic experience. From the moment I arrived, Jayden provided exceptional service and made me feel so welcome. He was friendly, attentive, and truly went above and beyond. The drinks were absolutely delicious, and everyone I encountered was warm and welcoming. The hotel has a beautiful, moody atmosphere that's both stylish and inviting. Even though I only came for a drink, I left incredibly impressed and will definitely be back! An exceptional 5 star experience!!!!!
