About Holiday Inn Express London Southwark
Six floors and 147 rooms make up Holiday Inn Express London Southwark, a straightforward, well-run base on Southwark Street. Rooms are compact but soundproofed enough to sleep well in a busy part of the city, each with en-suite bathroom, air conditioning and city views from the upper floors. Family and accessible rooms are available, along with drinks in room for those settling in for the evening.
Breakfast is included and consistently rated as one of the better parts of the stay, a useful start before heading out to explore. There's a bar on site for the evening, plus lift access, luggage storage and business services for those travelling for work. Chargeable on-site parking and an electric vehicle charge point cover guests arriving by car.
The location is the real draw: Tate Modern and the Globe Theatre are both close by, with restaurants, pubs and entertainment options within easy reach on foot. Staff are frequently singled out as helpful and friendly, which smooths over the fact that rooms run on the smaller side. For a central London stay built around comfort and convenience rather than space, it does the job well.
What guests say
One of the best hotels in London, in terms of price and affordability. I guess you could say I was not an extensive budget where I could purge, but at least I was able to stay at a quite comfortable hotel. The housekeeping was absolutely phenomenal by cleaning the room daily and being able to provide accurate service and perspective of the hotel. Breakfast was offered and honestly, it was pretty fair for being a hotel but honestly, you know you can’t put your expectations too high. For the convenience it’s one of the better hotels in London. However, if you’re staying more days as I’d probably stay at more expensive hotel. Just for the convenience of the location and more accessibility. The staff we’re friendly and we were able to help me check in and check out very quick. Will be back.

I stayed at the Holiday Inn Express Southwark for 3 days during my London holiday and had a fantastic experience. The location was perfect, just a short walk from the tube and close to the Thames, with stores like M&S nearby. We could easily visit major landmarks like Westminster, St. Paul’s Cathedral, Big Ben, and Buckingham Palace. The staff were friendly and attentive, and the modern check-in process made everything seamless. Our room was comfortable, with quiet air conditioning and a refreshing shower. The delicious complimentary breakfast was a great start to our days. Although the absence of hair conditioner was a small inconvenience, the fantastic location, great service, and practical amenities made our stay unforgettable. Thank you to the team—I can’t wait to return!

The rooms are clean, tiny (smaller than a cruise ship stateroom), and are not equipped with a safe, refrigerator, luggage rack or closet, so basically a place to sleep and shower. They gave us information upon check-in that mentioned safe and refrigerator service were available at the front desk but I wasn’t quite sure how that worked and we didn’t use it. The breakfast was great and more than made up for the sparse rooms. There were plenty of options including eggs, English bacon, baked beans, oatmeal, cold cereals, breads, muffins, croissants, yogurt, berry compote, granola, fruit, juices, and very nice coffee / latte / hot cocoa machines. Oh, and a pancake machine that I overlooked until the last morning! Nicoleta, who tended to the breakfast area, was so sweet and helpful! She literally made our stay worthwhile. She made us feel so welcome and was absolutely adorable and entertaining (made us laugh!!), we wanted to take her with us on the rest of our trip. 😄 We took up a bit of her time chatting with her, but I hope her superior realizes what a hospitality gem she is in providing customer service. The small bar had a filling station for water bottles and provided ice upon request, which was very much appreciated. The location was great - a very short, easy walk to the River Thames, Tower Bridge, Borough Market, etc.

What a great hotel! The staff were amazing. Always smiling, always happy to help and interested in whatever had or were going to see. Rooms were spacious compared what we had had on the rest of the trip. Location sensational, close to most of the major attractions and two train stations only minutes away. A special thank you to Nicoleta who looked after us most mornings at breakfast.
