About Montagu Place Hotel

Montagu Place Hotel occupies a townhouse building on a quiet street near Hyde Park and Baker Street, kept small with just 16 rooms rather than run as a large city hotel. That scale shows in the finish of the place: rooms are well presented with comfortable beds and clean, modern bathrooms, and the atmosphere throughout is calm rather than corporate.

Breakfast is served each morning with gluten-free options included, and there's a restaurant and bar on site for guests who'd rather not venture out. Other facilities stretch further than the building's size might suggest, with an indoor swimming pool, a spa and sauna, a garden, meeting rooms, and even a wedding venue setup. Practical extras include free WiFi, air conditioning, lift access, luggage storage, laundry service, porter and concierge support, childcare, and free on-site parking with valet.

Staff are consistently described as welcoming and attentive, which matters in a hotel this size where service is more personal than anonymous. The location near Hyde Park and Baker Street puts guests within easy reach of pubs, restaurants and entertainment nearby, while the street itself stays quiet enough to sleep well after a day in central London.

Such a great find ! The hotel I usually stay in was booked and upon looking at other hotels in Marylebone I stumbled upon the Montagu Place. It was just perfect! Such welcoming staff, well presented and nicely appointed throughout. The room was the lower category I believe but was large! Bed was super comfy , A/C was very cold and the bathroom was clean and modern. Breakfast was yummy with eggs cooked how you like them. I will 100% stay again soon. Alena at the front desk and Idana at Breakfast were both so lovely. Honestly other boutique hotels in london need to have more employees like them! Thanks for making my last night on this trip to london so nice ! 😊 Edward

The hotel itself is lovely—a classic British building, charming rooms, a comfortable bed, and excellent toiletries. But there’s one thing that will stop me from ever coming back here. In my stupidity, I left my passport and 500 euros in my suitcase and went for a walk. The next day, my passport was still in my suitcase (thank goodness for that), but there was only 200 euros left instead of 500. My room number was 34, and I had subsequently moved to 33. There are no cameras. Consequently, someone from housekeeping or reception stole my 300 euros whilst I was away. I want to say one thing: I didn’t call the police, and I didn’t go to reception, because it’s pointless. I’ve heard a lot about London, and I had a similar situation at another hotel in central Paris, only there they took the money from the safe. To anyone considering staying at this hotel: keep your cash on you. No matter how friendly the staff may seem, there are still those among them who will want to rummage through your belongings. I’ve taken a philosophical view of the situation, but unfortunately, I won’t be returning to this hotel. The person who stole my money should just remember that karma can sometimes be a cruel thing.

A truly lovely hotel, the staff were all friendly and helpful with me and my Grandmother on our trip. The room was luxurious and we had a very relaxing time, plus the breakfast had everything you could want (including gluten free). It’s well located and was a great place to stay, thank you

We stayed at Montagu Place Hotel and unfortunately felt it did not meet 4-star expectations, particularly for the price point. The bed was a major disappointment - extremely soft and bouncy, with the springs noticeable even with a thick mattress topper. Although advertised as a double (4’6”), it felt small for the room and the space could comfortably have accommodated a king. Linen was good quality and there was a generous number of pillows, which we appreciated. The climate control was inconsistent. At night, even when set to a high temperature, it blew cold air and felt drafty around the bed. The room only had a thin blind, and thicker curtains would have significantly improved comfort. In the morning, the room became too warm, suggesting poor temperature regulation overall. Soundproofing was also an issue. While we understand the building is old, being in a basement room meant noise from movement upstairs was very noticeable and disruptive. The bathroom was fine - clean, with a standard but pleasant design, ok water pressure and it was nice to have the option of a small bath. Service was underwhelming. Reception staff were not particularly welcoming, there was no offer of assistance with luggage, and there did not appear to be much urgency in resolving issues. While the location is good, overall the hotel felt more like a solid 3-star rather than a true 4-star experience. For the price paid, it felt overpriced, and we would choose to stay elsewhere next time.
