About Novotel London Blackfriars
Blackfriars sits on the south bank of the Thames, within easy reach of Tate Modern and St Paul's Cathedral across the river, and it's here that Novotel London Blackfriars makes its base on Blackfriars Road. With 182 rooms spread across thirteen floors, it's a sizeable base for exploring this part of London, whether for a weekend of gallery-hopping or a work trip into the city.
Rooms come with en-suite bathrooms, air conditioning, mini bar and city views, with family rooms and accessible rooms also available. The breakfast buffet is a particular strength, with a good spread of hot and cold options to set guests up for the day, and there's a restaurant, bar and snack bar on site alongside room service for quieter evenings. An indoor swimming pool and gym are available, and business travellers are catered for with meeting rooms and concierge services.
The location puts public transport links, restaurants, pubs and entertainment all within easy reach, and staff are generally helpful, though a few guests have found service inconsistent at times. There's no parking at the property, so those arriving by car should plan accordingly, and pets are welcome for anyone travelling with an animal in tow.
What guests say
Great value for money with a few minor caveats In terms of value for money, this hotel is an awesome option. The rooms are comfortable and well-maintained, and the complimentary still and sparkling water provided daily was a great touch. The pool is a nice amenity, though keep in mind you need to book a slot ahead of time. There is also a small gym on-site. The location is decent but requires some transit. While there is a convenient Tesco Express nearby, you will need to walk or take a tram to reach most locations. For public transit, there are three stations nearby: one is a quick 3–4 minute walk, while the other two are about 10–15 minutes away on foot. Breakfast was just okay—it was exactly the same every day for the entire week we stayed, and my kids didn't really like the selection. As for the service, the staff was polite, welcoming, and perfectly fine throughout our stay.

Got 2 connecting rooms that had a 3rd door with small corridor, worked out great with our family. Location was central to many places we wanted to visit with short duration Ubers. It was hot couple of days we were there so we opted for taxis and Ubers. Hotel AC and amenities were good. Staff was very courteous, always smiling and ready to help. Service was responsive. We got the breakfast option which had quite many options from quick auto pan cake machines and made to order omelets, honey combs, fresh yoghurt, and lot more. We used pool; it was bit small (14 people max) and we had to book it to use but kids enjoyed it after long day of walking. Overall great combo of location, services, breakfast and professional staff.

We stayed for a week at this property. It is located within 2 minutes of underground station, so very convenient. Walkable to the riverbank, which again is less than 5 mins and easy access for both leisure and business. It has a swimming pool and gym, in addition to the restaurant. The breakfast buffet was a good spread but exactly same on all seven days. We did not get the upgrade benefits for the status, presumably because higher level rooms were occupied but this was not communicated. However, our room had the view of The Shard. What did not really was room cleaning. The hotel needs to up the game here. Rooms werent cleaned well, the complimentary items like coffee werent restocked at times, same with sugar. Cleanliness also left a lot to be covered in the room.
