About Room Home Stay

Widegate Street sits in the heart of London's East End, close to Aldgate and within easy reach of the City, making Room Home Stay a practical base for exploring both the financial district and the surrounding markets and nightlife. The narrow street itself is typical of the area, tucked among older buildings just a short walk from Aldgate's transport links.

Rooms are clean and reasonably spacious, with en-suite bathrooms, air conditioning and free WiFi throughout, plus family rooms for those travelling in a group. There's a kitchen for guests who prefer to prepare their own food, along with drinks available in the room, luggage storage and a 24 hour reception for flexible arrivals. Some visitors have noted that certain basic extras are missing, so it suits those after straightforward, no-frills accommodation rather than a fully serviced hotel experience.

Staff are consistently described as friendly and helpful, and the location is rated highly for convenience, with easy access to the nearby train station. Pubs, restaurants and other eateries are all close by, alongside entertainment options in the surrounding East End streets, making it easy to step out and find food or a night out without travelling far.

Great room much bigger than the average room in London, and grear value for money, the floors are thin though, could hear almost every step of the room above

Giving them two stars because the location is incredibly handy for Liverpool Street station and the bed was really comfortable. Not giving any more than that because the place is falling apart - there was a beeping sound alerting the building to an electricity fault from the moment we checked in until we left on check out, a leak causing water to pour through a light fitting in the communal hallway, filthy carpets and walls coated with flooring materials that were peeling off. Our "garden view" room had a few over some skylights that had fences between them made out of decking? Room itself was unfinished - as were the corridors - theres a sign up saying the corridor is being refurbished but based on reviews from others, it's been like that for several months at least. For this price you can stay in very clean, well-maintaned places a 5-10 minute walk from here, would suggest you do that instead

No hand soap or body soap in the bathroom when we arrived. I went down to ask, and the receptionist looked annoyed and told me three times that they don’t provide soap. Only after insisting did he finally come up and spend 10 minutes refilling the dispensers. Later that night, I pulled back the duvet and found five big bloodstains on the mattress cover. We ended up sleeping on towels. They changed the sheets the next morning, but that doesn’t excuse it, this should never happen in any hotel. Wouldn’t recommend this place at all unless you’re okay with poor hygiene and bad attitude from staff.
