About Swinton
King's Cross has become one of London's best-connected corners, with rail and underground links putting the rest of the city within easy reach, and it's here on Swinton Street that Swinton makes its home. The hotel occupies a handy spot for anyone wanting to explore without spending long on the move, whether that's for business, sightseeing, or simply passing through.
The hotel has 53 rooms, kept clean and straightforward, with breakfast available to set guests up for the day and free WiFi throughout. Staff are on hand with concierge services and luggage storage, useful for early arrivals or late departures, and those working on reception are consistently described as friendly and professional. It's worth noting that some guests have found the booking system a little inconsistent, so it may be worth confirming reservation details directly.
Beyond the hotel's doors there's no shortage of places to eat and drink, with restaurants, pubs and bars all nearby, along with entertainment options for evenings out. Overall, Swinton is best suited to travellers who want a fair price, a convenient base, and a room that does what it needs to do.

Do not book with this hotel, it is nothing like it is in the pictures. Immediately after checking in and seeing our room we booked in with a nearby Travelodge and checked out. The hotel is about a 10 minute walk from King's Cross station which is ideal and one of the reasons I booked here, but as soon as we (myself and my daughter) saw the hotel and the street itself we already felt uneasy, especially as two females alone. The whole street seemed sketchy. However we held hope that inside would be better. The lobby was nice enough, if quite old fashioned, but smelled musty and unpleasant. I will say that the gentleman behind the desk was very polite and professional. He gave us our key and explained that each time we left the hotel we would have to hand the key in and get it back once we returned. I'm sure that's how things were done once but it again made us feel uneasy. The stairs leading to the room were rickety and the musty smell didn't fade. And then the room... Unfortunately I didn't think to take any pictures as I was too busy sorting out alternative accommodation. The room was extremely small, which wasn't a problem as we didn't plan to spend much time in it. But the furniture was old and worn and chipped. There were holes in the bedsheets and the curtains. We had a large window and directly outside was a large concrete area (we were not on the ground floor) that made us feel incredibly unsafe. The bathroom was horrifying. I'm not sure how to explain it properly but I'm pretty sure you shouldn't be able to sit down on the toilet and have the shower directly over you at the same time, with no partitions, and only a small drain in the centre of the room. There is more I could say about the room and the bathroom but hopefully I've said enough. I am by no means a fussy person when it comes to hotels - cheap and safe is more than enough for me. Nothing about that hotel felt safe, and maybe I could have handled it by myself, but there was no way I could allow my daughter to stay there. So we booked a nearby Travelodge and checked out. When asked why by the gentleman behind the desk, I politely explained our reasons and to his credit he was very understanding and apologetic. I didn't expect a refund as it was nonrefundable but he assured me that do to the circumstances they would refund and they followed through with that, which I am very grateful for. I didn't stay long enough to visit the garden or to eat there so I can't share any experiences about that. Overall it was by far the worst hotel I have ever visited (only for the hotel itself and nothing to do with the staff) and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. I don't like to leave such a harsh review but I do feel like I should warn anyone thinking about staying there, especially as the pictures advertised do not match up at all I am very grateful for the refund however

I just finished my stay at the Swinton Hotel a couple days ago and it was excellent. It started off well, as I was given an upgrade to a larger room. The room was very clean, including the bathroom, and the coffee/tea station was a nice touch. Every time I had an interaction with the staff they were very pleasant and went out of their way to see if I had any concerns (I didn’t). Lastly the location was great for me because I had a quick 24 hour stay in London and had to be back at the airport the following day so the proximity to King’s Cross was ideal. Cheers
