About The House of Toby

King's Cross and Bloomsbury form one of London's best-connected corners, with St Pancras station and a run of restaurants and pubs within easy reach, and it's here that The House of Toby makes its home on Swinton Street. The hotel has 24 rooms and works well as a straightforward base for exploring the city rather than a destination in its own right.

Rooms come with en-suite bathrooms, air conditioning and complimentary WiFi, with family rooms available and drinks in room for those who want them. A bar on site and breakfast cover the basics, and staff can help with luggage storage, laundry and concierge requests, along with business services for those travelling for work. There's no parking at the property, so this suits guests arriving by train or public transport rather than by car.

The location is the main draw, putting King's Cross and St Pancras stations, plus a good spread of nearby restaurants, pubs and entertainment, within walking distance. Rooms are kept clean and comfortable, and the staff have a reputation for being helpful, though service can be slow at busy times and some rooms let in noise from the street or nearby corridors. For the price, it remains a practical choice for a short London stay.

Great experience with this hotel! I booked with them direct, the staff were extremely helpful and friendly. Once I had made the booking they were very helpful for my many questions before my stay. The room was clean and perfect for my requirements and the location was great for Kings Cross and St Pancras I would definitely stay there again and would highly recommend it for anyone looking for a good, budget hotel.

I have been booking The House of Toby for over five years, and they never cease to amaze me. The receptionists are incredibly accommodating and always make me feel welcome. During the current heatwave, the air-conditioned room has been an absolute lifesaver. As always, the room is cozy, spotless, and perfectly clean. This hotel remains my top choice everytime I visit London and it's only 8 minutes walking distancr from St. Pancras Station.

I was a bit hesitant to stay here after seeing mixed reviews but I was actually really impressed by my one night stopover here. Yes the rooms are small, but mine was clean and well equipped and I didnt need anything else for 1 night's stay. The front desk staff were notably helpful, really lovely to engage with at the end of a long day. Would happily stay again.

What a bizarre hotel. Stayed with my sister, she booked the hotel so I had no idea what to expect. For £110 a night, this was insane. The tiniest room I have ever been in. Knees literally touching the door when on the toilet. No working fan in the bathroom for the shower as it looked clogged with dust. Woken up several times by people coming back to their rooms in the night as the walls are as thick as a piece of paper. Room on the 3rd floor with no lift or accessibility arrangements, so don't bother if this is something you need. Weird atmosphere, not a very friendly welcome, but a good amount of loo roll and tea/coffee. Bed was pretty comfy, but there was a constant sound almost like a washing machine on a spin cycle at all times and we couldn't figure out where it was coming from. Also 11 min walk from the closest tube station (Kings X) which is quite far out for London. Book a Holiday Inn instead, for the same price you can probably get breakfast too.
