What guests say
The City of London Hotel is a 15-minute walk from Waterloo station, making it well placed for exploring that part of the city. The staff are extremely welcoming — on arrival we were offered a refreshing cold drink, and my wife was presented with a flower, which was a nice touch. Although check-in is not available before 2pm, the team were happy to store our luggage until our room was ready. The hotel is clean and our room was nicely presented. A great touch which I hope all hotels move to, was the fitting of a wall socket that would fit plug sizes from around the world. (That changed my star rating from a 4 to a 5). Breakfast is continental style and generously stocked, with hot options including eggs and baked beans alongside the usual selection of fruit, cheese, cereals and cold cuts. On the downside, our room was on the small side, but overall we felt the hotel offered good value for money. Should we visit London again, we would not hesitate to return.

Great value hotel. Service was excellent, both the lovely girl working at breakfast and the gentlemen at reception. Bathroom was clean and well looked after. Room was comfortable. Wifi was good. Great place for an affordable stay in London. Oh, I had a shawarma in the attached Lebanese restaurant and that was all good ingredients and tasty too.

The building is old so abit cramped and the rooms are small. However, they are clean and well kept and the building is beautifully adorned and well kept. They do an awesome job of making sure that all needs are taken care of despite lack of space. The staff was super helpful and always ready to help. The elephant and castle tube station is a short walk away and there is a store just down the street. Simply put, if I ever visit London again this will be my first choice.

Stayed at the City London Hotel and overall had a really good experience for the price. The rooms are cosy and on the smaller side, but you get exactly what you pay for — especially considering the great location, not far from many of London’s main attractions. The breakfast is very basic continental style, but it’s exactly as advertised so no surprises there. The biggest compliment goes to the staff. They were incredibly lovely, friendly, and helpful throughout our stay. They securely stored our bags after checkout while we explored the city and also gave us great advice on places to visit around London. I would definitely recommend this hotel if you’re travelling on a budget and simply want a clean room with a bed and bathroom in a convenient location.
