About The Grand M Showcase

The Grand M Showcase occupies a straightforward city-centre building on Whitechapel High Street, in the heart of Tower Hamlets. It's a functional base rather than a destination in itself, offering simple, comfortable accommodation within easy reach of central London.

Rooms come with en-suite bathrooms, drinks available in-room, and access to a kitchen, while free WiFi and 24 hour reception cover the practical basics. There's a restaurant on site for guests who'd rather not venture out, though opinion on the overall experience has been mixed, with a modest average rating from a small number of reviews suggesting standards can vary.

Outside the door, Whitechapel offers plenty of options for eating and drinking, with pubs, bars and restaurants all nearby, plus entertainment within easy walking distance. It suits travellers who want a central London address and don't need frills, more a place to rest between days out than a stay to linger over.

Great place ! Minimun equipment, weird traces on the bedding. The bed bugs were the most annoying part. The landlord didn't wanted to refund the staying btw.

This "hotel", that costed me 70€ per night, doesn't have a reception desk. Or a receptionist, or anything. The service is all done by phone or by the workers of the restaurant under the hotel. We stored our luggages at the restaurant before check-in time, we got help on how to access the hotel from the restaurant workers.... This didn't need to be such a big problem but the check-out time was at 11h while our flight was way later, so we asked if we could store our luggage there, just as we did before check-in. The restaurant worker at the time looked at us and asked if it was check-in or check-out. The guy then said it would cost 10£ per bag, as luggage storage was only included before check-in. He was clearly inventing this price to try to steal our money, as it was still 10am and the restaurant wasn't even already open, he was the only one inside, so we denied to give him money and left. When leaving he asked how long we would need to store it there, like if he was going to try to make up a lower price if it wasn't a very long period. This time we ignored him and stored our bags in a safe and actual luggage storage place, with trustworthy employees. Like if this wasn't bad enough, when checking-out (by phone), the hotel manager tried to convince us to give a 10 star review on Booking. This tatic is probably why we didn't see a single mention of the lack of reception desk or anything bad on the Booking reviews. You can't cook in the kitchen, as there's only a microwave and a sink. The shared bathroom is ok, the shower is good. The bedroom is way too small for this price. But the lack of workers there, for a hotel costing 70€ per night? That kills it for me. It was already really expensive, lacked basic things and they still tried to steal me more money + doesn't have a proper working kitchen. I wouldn't go back and I wouldn't recommend this place.

Great hostel/hotel hybrid, I appreciated the easy check in and it was very clean. Also a fantastic location around 2mins from Alders Gate underground or 15min walk from Liverpool station.
