About The Rookery Hotel
Step into one of the 33 rooms at The Rookery Hotel and you'll find each one decorated in its own style, with a distinct, old-fashioned character rather than a uniform hotel look. Air conditioning keeps things comfortable, and the overall feel throughout is calm and quiet, a world away from the busy streets of Farringdon just outside.
Beyond the bedrooms, guests have use of a library and sitting room, both kept spotless and furnished with the same attention to detail as the rooms themselves. Breakfast is served each morning and is a genuine highlight, and there's a bar on site for a drink at the end of the day. A garden offers a spot of quiet outdoors, while porter services and luggage storage take care of the practical side of a stay. Staff are on hand throughout and are consistently described as attentive and welcoming.
The location near Farringdon Station and Smithfield Market puts guests within easy reach of the surrounding pubs, bars, restaurants and other eateries, as well as nearby entertainment. It's a well-placed base for exploring this part of London on foot, with the hotel itself offering a peaceful retreat to return to.

What guests say
A hotel with a charming historical atmosphere. We enjoyed our stay overall, although there are a few areas that could be improved. The interior is beautiful, full of character, and clearly well maintained. It was definitely one of the highlights of our stay. The bathroom and bathtub are stylish, and the staff are polite, welcoming, and very helpful. I also appreciated the complimentary apples at reception. It's a small gesture, but it adds a nice touch. The hotel has a couple of honesty minibars where you simply write down what you've taken, which creates a cozy, home-like feeling. Housekeeping cleaned our room every day. There are, however, some drawbacks. Since the hotel is located in an old building, some of the original features are less practical, especially in the bathroom. The sink taps are positioned so close to the basin that it's difficult to wash your hands properly. The shower doesn't provide a consistent stream because water leaks from several points, and adjusting the temperature is tricky. The toilet flush is also quite weak, and you have to wait around five minutes for the cistern to refill before it can be used again. For a four-star hotel, I expected these facilities to function more smoothly. The sound insulation could also be better. You can hear noise from the bars across the street (not excessively loud, but noticeable). Early in the morning, when public transport starts running, slight vibrations can be felt. We could also hear staff announcing breakfast deliveries to other rooms. None of these issues were severe, but I'm sensitive to noise, so they did affect my sleep. The location is convenient, with a metro station nearby and an easy connection to Gatwick Airport. It's also well situated between the historic tourist areas and the more modern parts of London. However, there isn't much to do in the immediate neighborhood, so I would recommend using the metro to explore the city.

We had a wonderful time in the hotel. An out-of-time experience, everything was nicely crafted, quiet, peaceful. The staff was very helpful and welcoming, the entire ambiance works great. Would definitely reccomend over the big hotel chains!

After being newly wedded my husband and I decided to stay at the Rookery, a very fine and beautiful luxury boutique hotel. From check in to check out the staff was excellent and on point The rooms were finally decorated and the sitting rooms were absolutely spectacular. A perfect way to end a honeymoon with the most special person but will have to say as an added treat we met some lovely people who ended up being one of my favorite authors and it was very exciting to sit with her and her family and get to know each other so thank you so much for a wonderful time and a beautiful hotel!!!

An absolute gem. My bottle of water turned into tea when I entered the hotel's library on the ground floor - it's that British. The lobby is not only staffed by extremely helpful and kind humans, but also a highly professional cat named Bagheera who seems to be head of security, but also accepts pets. The building is old and has tonnes of character, which of course also means that the rooms are not 100% sound proof. But that should be obvious to anyone who have seen pictures of the place. Nevertheless, we enjoyed every minute of our stay and hope to be back next time we're in London.
