About The Royal Oak
The Royal Oak suits anyone after a no-fuss stay with a proper pub at the centre of it, rather than a quiet hotel lobby. Set in Hale End, Greater London, close to Epping Forest and local transport links, it works well for families passing through, walkers and cyclists using the forest trails, or anyone who wants free on-site parking and easy access into London.
Rooms are en-suite and kept clean and comfortable, with family rooms available for those travelling with children, plus free WiFi and drinks available in-room. Downstairs there's a restaurant and bar known for its food, particularly the Sunday roast, along with a snack bar, breakfast, kids' meals, and a garden with outdoor seating that gets lively, especially in fine weather. Staff are generally friendly and welcoming, though service can be inconsistent at busier times, and there's 24 hour reception plus meeting rooms for those needing more than just a bed.
Beyond the pub itself, the surrounding area offers fishing, golf, horse riding, watersports, and further pubs, restaurants and entertainment nearby, alongside good walking and cycling country. It's a straightforward base that leans on its beer garden and kitchen as much as its rooms.

I am not happy to received pre cook food. I placed my order at the bar. By the time I returned to my table. The two burgers were in front of me. I asked waitress how is this possible. Two burgers with two soft drinks 45.00. I am not expect pre cooked food. One could tell its pretty cooked. I was not happy. But I thought I will come back here. My date has been not well. I have not been feel great. Called the establishment but the manager seemed not to care. Talking over me! I am the customer. Pre cooked meat is nor on at all. That's a joke. Messed up my Monday bank holiday celebrations. Maybe all there food is pre cooked. This not good!! Very weak. My girlfriend was sent home from work not feel great.

Stayed here in a lovely bright and airy room in summer. It has a little patio and was perfect. I was early to breakfast and staff (Dawn and Jay) were so helpful. They set up breakfast early and were so kind and helpful. Dawn was looking after us and our room and we had our breakfast early and everything was perfect. Our room was so clean and well maintained and well looked after - everything was perfect.

Great pub food, more like a bistro in quality. Good range of drinks & staff very accommodating as they made my cocktail non alchoholic despite not having made it without alchohol before. One of the side dishes was delayed and we got it taken off the bill without asking. Very polite, family friendly pub with beautiful interior, I recommend wholeheartedly!!!

Lovely place, such a beautiful pub the food was just restaurant quality. Chef Sammi makes delicious food, my cod with sweet potato croquettes were out of this world. Also our waitress, Jay, was so very sweet, attentive and efficient. You can tell she's been doing her job for a long time and, more importantly, that she loves it. Needless to say, we will be back. 10/10
