My cousin from Canada decided to surprise me and come to London. We met up and decided to try Drake & Morgan at King's Cross. The exterior seemed so plush and inviting. Upon entry, there's a full bar downstairs with high chairs and upstairs is the more relaxed feel of cozy dining. The decor is spectacular. If you're sitting in a booth, you'll have the luxury of having plush pillows and blankets and if you're sitting in a chair, well you'll have the faux furs. Simple elegance😍 For starters we tried the calamari served with chipotle mayo, the prawn lollipops, lemon and herb chicken skewers, and the sweet duck bao buns. The calamari was fresh but we wished there was more on the plate. The prawn lollipops were basic...not sure why it was served with prawn crackers though. The duck bao buns was deliciously cooked. The lemon herb chicken was good also. For mains, I had the seabass and my cousin had the fish and chips. My plate had 2 pieces of seabass atop a green sauce. The fish could have been more seasoned and it seemed the focus of this dish was on the greens (watercress maybe) on top of the fish. Well, how can you go wrong with fish and chips? My cousin enjoyed it. To wash it down, we ordered a bottle of Proseco, my cousin had the brownie dessert and I had double espresso. I was shocked that when I asked for sugar, the server brought an open container of white sugar cubes with paper sugar on top. That was not sanitary. I'm not sure how long these sugar cubes have been uncovered traveling from table to table perhaps. 😣 I didn't take any. We shut the restaurant down right until they closed. Overall, the venue is super clean, the staff are very friendly and welcoming. I love an open kitchen concept, you get to see the chefs cooking away. The prices are not cheap but if you're looking for a place to dine, drink, and partake of the musical vibes, DandM at King's Cross is the place. Sit and drink downstairs or even sit outside if the weather permits. Cost: approx. £200

I visited with my family of five for an evening meal to celebrate a 70th birthday. We arrived slightly late, but only by around 15 minutes, which is generally within the usual grace period offered by most restaurants. I approached what I assumed was the floor manager or host, who was wearing a jacket, and explained that we were running a little late. He checked my booking but seemed uninterested and stated that he would need to see whether our table had been given away. While I understood that this was a possibility, I was disappointed by his tone and attitude. After some time, another member of staff, whom I assumed was his equivalent, returned and informed me that everything was fine and that our table was being prepared. However, this took a further 10 minutes. Once the table was ready, she escorted us to it and waited with us for our waitress. Our waitress was lovely — a young woman, probably around 18 or 19 years old. She was friendly, polite, and attentive. She brought us water and took our drinks order. Once our drinks arrived, we decided on our meals and waited for someone to take our order. After waiting for quite some time, a member of my party noticed a QR code on the table for ordering and paying. This had not been explained to us, and nobody had mentioned that we could order through our phones. In any case, the system did not work properly, as it required connecting to the Wi-Fi, which repeatedly disconnected us. Eventually, someone from our table had to get up and find a member of staff to take our order. The gentleman who came to take our order also seemed uninterested. He simply arrived with a pen and notepad and waited for us to speak. Once ordered, the food arrived promptly, and we were pleased with the speed of service. The portions were generous, and the food tasted good overall. Several of us ordered chips as a side. I felt they were slightly overcooked, overly crispy, and a little too salty, although not enough to warrant a complaint. They also appeared to be standard frozen chips rather than anything more premium. Given that this restaurant is priced slightly above average, I had expected better quality. Our waitress later apologised for the delay in taking our order and checked whether everything was satisfactory. Unfortunately, this was not until we were almost finished eating, with only a few bites remaining. Once our plates had been cleared, we were asked whether we would like dessert. We declined, and I immediately requested the bill, concerned that we might once again be left waiting and have difficulty finding someone to assist us. I also asked for the service charge to be removed. The only real positive aspect of the service was our waitress, and while she was pleasant and professional, I felt she provided the level of customer service that should be expected rather than anything exceptional. Overall, I left feeling disappointed and that the experience did not justify the cost. Our booking also clearly stated that we were celebrating a birthday, yet there was no acknowledgement of the occasion whatsoever. Even something simple such as a "Happy Birthday," a small complimentary gesture, or a modest decoration on the table would have helped make the celebration feel more special. Given that this appears to be an establishment that regularly hosts special occasions and presents itself as an upmarket cocktail bar, I would have expected some recognition of the event. Unfortunately, I will not be recommending this venue to others, nor will I be returning.

Been here twice for drinks. The decor is lovely and atmosphere generally chill. The staff were excellent on one occasion and no so much on the other occasion. However, overall it is a lovely place and close to the station.

Really enjoyed my visit to Drake and Morgan’s. I met a friend there for coffee and dessert, and it was a great spot to catch up. The atmosphere was really cosy with low lighting and music at just the right volume, so it felt relaxed but you could still have a proper conversation. The coffee and dessert were both lovely, and the service was friendly and welcoming. It’s also just a short walk from King’s Cross station, which makes it really convenient. I’d definitely come back and would happily recommend it.
