We were up in the area for the day so thought we'd call in and check it out. Site run by English Heritage and parking opposite the Castle. Nice castle with fantastic views from the top you can really see why this spot was picked for a castle! Walk up to the top part of the castle involved some steps and either a walk through the woodland or around the remaining curtain walls. Nothing too strenuous but older folk might need to pause and use a bench. Final bridge to the Inner gatehouse over the ditch is quite steep. Views from the top in all directions were fantastic. Relatively newly constructed Roundhouse in the woodland too. There are some caves on site but they have all been fenced off which is a shame. Staff were friendly and knowledgeable. Plenty of grassed areas and benches to sit or have a picnic. Would definitely recommend if Castles are your thing and if you have EH membership.

You spot Beeston Castle from miles away — sitting high above the countryside like it knows exactly how impressive it is. Getting there involves a fairly committed uphill hike of about 20 minutes at a decent pace, and by the time we reached the top we were absolutely puffed. Completely worth it. This isn’t one of those castles filled with endless information boards and carefully managed history lessons. Beeston is more about the setting, the scale, the views, and the feeling of the place itself. Windswept, rugged, and genuinely commanding. The climb may test the legs a little, but the reward at the top is outstanding.

Typical English heritage site just ruins . But the views at the top are stunning. It is a Very steep incline to get to the top not recommended for the elderly or disabled even under 5 found it hard going . If your fit enough you can push a buggy up. Caves closed to protect the bats. Small gift shop . Nice portable cafe but outside the entrance. £4 to park all day not bad. But unless your picnicing and playing within the grounds you'll struggle to spend more than 2 hours. Staff very friendly & knowledgeable

Very interesting castle overlooking the plains of chesire and north Wales. Volunteers offer information about the history of the site including stuff about the bronze age settlement that was there before the castle. Toilets and gift shop/displays on site and cafe just next door. With decent parking a cock stride across the road. Bit of a climb up to the top not pushchair or wheelchair friendly. Reconstructed roundhouse also on site with well informed Volunteers on hand to explain how it was constructed and what the various tools and artefacts were used for. Very interesting and aimed at adults and children alike.
