About The Ascott

Half Edge Lane sits away from the busiest part of Manchester, giving The Ascott a quieter base while still keeping the city within easy reach. This Victorian-era B&B has 15 rooms decorated in a classic style, each with free WiFi, and the building's period character comes through in the breakfast room, which is filled with natural light and makes a pleasant start to the day.

Guests have use of a bar and restaurant on site, along with a garden for stepping outside, plus luggage storage, laundry service and concierge help for planning onward trips. Free on-site parking is available, which is a practical bonus for anyone arriving by car rather than train.

Beyond the front door there are pubs, bars, restaurants and other eateries nearby, along with entertainment options for evenings out, making it a reasonable spot for exploring Manchester without needing to stay in the thick of the centre.

This is me writing and not Chat GPT! David was an exceptional host ! He spent the time to make me feel at home, a tru gentleman and made me feel welcome and at home… its not easy to create that experience for a guest but the building itself speaks a thousand words… not a single spec of dust met with a true hoteler… if thats even a word!! So what i made it or if i didnt i spelt it wrong! Call me stupid but i promise you wont when i drive past you in a ferrari;-), anyways going off topic , David deserves a chain of hiltons true gentleman :-)

This place ambiance is very good, amenities were disappointing because of the toilet drain was not working properly, had to wait for using the toilet. The biggest let down was the room heater which wasn’t working at all during peak winter time. Morning breakfast was good and it was an average experience

Stayed here briefly and thought the room was really nice, very clean and bed very comfy. Great price too and very good value if you’re needing a nice over night stay

The Worst Hotel Experience of My Life – Avoid at All Costs! This is absolutely not a real hotel — please do not book this place! We called the hotel several times while driving from London, but no one answered. When we finally arrived after a four-hour drive, the hotel was completely closed. We called again and again, and when someone finally answered, we were told that no one could open the door for us and that we had to find another place to stay. This is unbelievable and unacceptable. How can a hotel take bookings and payments when guests cannot even access the property? After such a long journey, being refused entry to a “hotel” we paid for was a horrible experience. If you value your time, money, and sanity — do not book this place! They should not be allowed to operate as a hotel. 11/11/2025 Dear Owner, Please note that my booking was made through Super.com, not Booking.com. Based on other reviews, this issue appears to have affected multiple customers. I strongly urge you to resolve this matter and refund all payments immediately.
