About Britannia Hotel Newcastle Airport

With 100 rooms spread across three floors, Britannia Hotel Newcastle Airport is built for travellers who want to be close to the runway without sacrificing basic comforts. It sits in Ponteland, on the edge of Newcastle upon Tyne, making it a practical stop for early flights or late arrivals, and staff are consistently noted as helpful and friendly.

Rooms come en-suite, with family and accessible options available, and drinks and room service can be brought straight to the door. That said, maintenance is inconsistent from room to room, so it's worth flagging any issues early to get the best of the stay. Downstairs there's a restaurant, bar and snack bar, along with breakfast service and kids' meals, plus a garden, picnic area and outdoor seating for those who want a bit of air between flights.

Facilities extend to meeting rooms, a lift, and laundry service, useful for both business travellers and families. Golf, pubs, restaurants and other entertainment are all nearby, and on-site parking is available for a charge. Pets are welcome too, making it a straightforward base for a night before or after travel.

We stayed at the hotel last weekend before our visit abroad. This was our second visit. I was unable to get accommodation online, I rang to try and check availability. I spoke to Dean, he was so helpful as the day required was Ladies day at Newcastle Racecourse. We managed to get a room. On arrival we checked in. The room was fabulous. Thank you very much. Definitely so much more than we expected. The Tyne Suite was so nice.

If you like to be miserable then choose this place - this is a despicable, inhospitable hotel. Poor housekeeping and inflexible to give one when requested. The room was dusty and bathroom is dated. There’s no facility and no safe to put personal belongings. The window barely opens and there is no ventilation. I’ve been miserable and frustrated during my stay - the room service should be ashamed too. I’ve never seen a hotel that asks the guests to go all the way to reception to take towels etc. I only booked this hotel to attend my friends’ wedding which was hosted in this hotel. I’ve been in this room, uncleaned for days, because of the hotel’s inflexibility to have housekeeping. This is the worst hotel I’ve ever been in my entire life, it should not be even called hotel. This is something else - boycott this place and go elsewhere. I have booked this place through Booking.com and the price doesn’t match to anything - they basically robbed us. Hotels in freaking London are way better for the same price. This hotel should be closed and demolished. I truly hate this place and no one was bothered to help us - not even a little bit. It seemed that it was us working, not them. This is the first time I’d say this - at this point, Airbnb (which I boycott) should have been a better option than this atrocity

If you want a bed for the night with no frills this hotel fits the bill. Rooms are dated, but clean & priced accordingly. We stayed here twice, once on arrival in the UK & another on returning to Australia. We were given an early check-in both times & the staff on all occasions were accommodating & respectfull.

Perfect place to spend the night before taking off at the airport. Location is extremely close and only a 5 minute walk to the front doors of the airport. There's a bar and a restaurant that serves food at different times. The rooms were nice and clean and it's cool how you can adjust the tv to different angles for better viewing. Water pressure in the shower and sink was really good as well.
