Extremely disappointing experience at the DoubleTree by Hilton Newcastle Airport. After turning off the air conditioning at 9.30pm we noticed a loud continuous noise which we reported at approximately 10.45pm because it was impossible to sleep. We were advised to “give it time” as the noise was expected to settle down but unfortunately it didn't. After calling again around 1am, we were finally moved to another room. This involved walking across the hotel in our pyjamas in the middle of the night. The staff member who moved us, Ebony, acknowledged that the noise in the original room was terrible and advised she was already aware of the issue and believed it had previously been fixed. Unfortunately, the second room was also extremely noisy because of a constant double knocking sound, which around 2.30am we realised was due to a speed ramp outside. This meant we ended up getting no sleep at all and at 4am we rang reception to be taken back to our original room to shower and pack up. The following morning Jess the duty manager was very apologetic and advised that a full refund could be arranged. However, despite this we have since only been offered a 20% which is wholly inadequate considering the complete lack of sleep and disruption throughout the night. Had we have slept for 80% of the night that would of been fine. A hotel’s most basic responsibility is to provide guests with a restful night’s sleep, and sadly that did not happen. Very disappointing handling of what was already an extremely stressful stay.

We stayed here the night before an early morning flight for our honeymoon, and it was exactly what we needed. Despite the miserable weather outside, we were greeted with warm cookies—a lovely touch that we welcomed with open arms! The hotel is modern, very clean, and the staff were incredibly welcoming. We enjoyed drinks at the bar and a great meal at the restaurant, which meant we didn't have to venture back out into the rain. Most surprisingly, the room was pin-drop quiet. We barely heard a single aircraft, which is impressive given how close you are to the runway! It made for a very relaxing start to our trip. We’d definitely stay again for the convenience and quality.

Stayed here for one night. Unfortunately, the rooms felt quite worn, with visible signs of wear and tear on the furniture. The breakfast was also below expectations and didn’t quite match the overall price level. That said, the front desk staff stood out - in a very positive way. Professional, efficient, and genuinely helpful. Definitely the highlight of the stay.

Came out of the Airport and walked over to the hotel to order a taxi - after being on a flight, just wanted the fresh air and a bit of a leg stretch before getting a cab. Taxi Driver pulled into the hotel and went in to the reception to register his car "so he didn't get fined" which was weird. He comes back to the car and tells me they won't let him out unless I pay the parking cost. The car has been there for maybe 1 minute at this point. The parking machine inside reception charges me £10. TEN POUNDS for "parking". For one minute. The drone worker behind the desk robotically says "you can't get a taxi from here if you didn't stay here - if you want to order a taxi you need to get it from the airport". Well, I didn't know that, and the driver didn't know that, and you didn't signpost it anywhere. I'm sure if you had a sign up saying "we'll con you out of your money if you mistakenly set foot on our property" I'm pretty sure nobody would set foot on your property. You wouldn't make that extra money then, would you? On top of that, the woman behind the counter seemed to enjoy the fact that I was being ripped off. Almost revelling in it. Awful.
