About Clifton Hotel Newcastle

A bar and garden terrace give Clifton Hotel Newcastle a relaxed spot to start or end a day out, with outdoor seating and a picnic area adding to the options for a drink outside. Drinks can also be brought up to the room, and the bar sits alongside meeting rooms and 24 hour reception, making the place workable for business stays as well as leisure ones.

Rooms come with en-suite bathrooms and free WiFi, and the hotel is adults only throughout. It's worth knowing that standards can be inconsistent, as some rooms have been reported as neglected and service has occasionally been described as unprofessional, though many guests find the staff friendly and the overall stay good value, helped by the ample parking on site.

Set on Clifton Road in Newcastle upon Tyne, the hotel is close to a pub, restaurants and other eateries, with entertainment and a golf course also nearby, and the city centre and its attractions within easy reach.

Booked two rooms for two couples and ended up being given a flat, which seemed fine at first. Unfortunately, things went downhill very quickly. In the middle of the night I tried to take a shower, only to discover there was no water at all. Completely unacceptable. To make matters worse, I later found blonde hair on the bed, which was honestly disgusting and made me question whether the bedding had even been changed properly. I paid £140 for this place and expected basic standards of cleanliness and functioning facilities. Instead, it was a very disappointing experience and definitely not worth the money.

Very cozy and nice hotel not far from city center. Some very fine and friendly blokes working at the desk. For the rest of reviews, if you expect bloody Hilton than book one and dont cry.

YOUNG WOMEN AVOID stayed here for 1 night for convenience on a night out. location was convenient enough to the city centre and ubers were decently cheap to get in and out. the staff were friendly enough but i cannot look past the fact that the (presumed) manager was watching cam girls on his laptop in a public area of the hotel. we used the tea making facilities on our way back into the hotel around 2am and bumped into some other guests. as we were walking back through one of the communal areas to get to our room, one of the other guests brought us back to say “don’t look at his laptop,” human instinct meant we did and it was genuinely horrifying. he had been sat in communal areas since we arrived at the hotel and as far as we were concerned, he was working. on this occasion, he was sat facing a wall with his laptop more than viewable from guests walking through to a significant part of the hotel and he was just sat watching porn, making us feel like unwilling participants in an exhibitionist kink. genuinely disgusting behaviour. the floor in the room was dirty and there were pillows behind the bed and sweets in the corners suggesting the room had NOT been cleaned before we arrived. for £25 per person we had a low standard and were pretty willing to let a lot slide when it came to quality as it was just a bed for the night but the public porn watching was too much to excuse. the staff (other than the presumed manager) were friendly but it’s quite an uncomfortable environment checking in, having everyone in the social area aware of your room number, and the pool/bar area constantly full of the staff and their mates hanging around.

Very small rooms. No kettle, cups, tea/coffee in the room. Has very small tv. No sound insulation, can easily hear other guests. Teas etc, and microwave at front desk. £5 per day for parking, which can add up quickly. Bar at reception. Very basic place, just for sleeping tbh. Not bad for the price, but watch out for the parking charges as they add up. Mattress is very cheap.
