About The Holystone Bar & Restaurant

Walk into a room at The Holystone Bar & Restaurant and you'll find an en-suite bathroom, drinks available in the room, and free WiFi as standard, with family rooms on offer for those travelling with children. It's a straightforward, comfortable base rather than a boutique stay, but it covers the essentials well and comes with free on-site parking, which makes it an easy stop for anyone exploring Newcastle upon Tyne and the coast nearby.

Downstairs, the bar and restaurant do a lot of the work. Expect generous portions and a reputation for particularly good burgers, plus kids' meals if you're dining as a family. Breakfast is served on site, and there's a garden, picnic area and outdoor seating for warmer days, along with 24 hour reception for whenever you arrive. The atmosphere is welcoming and dogs are made properly welcome throughout. One point to note: the venue has occasionally closed earlier than its advertised hours, so it's worth checking ahead if you're planning a late evening.

Location-wise, there's plenty within reach, including golf and fishing nearby, other pubs and restaurants close by, and entertainment options for the evening. Whitley Road puts you within striking distance of both Newcastle's city attractions and the Tyne and Wear coastline, making The Holystone a practical choice for either a city break or a coastal detour.

Only popped in for a bite to eat and a drink toilets had no hand wash or hot water. My cappuccino was just like hot milk. Ordered a mixed grill the plate what they served it on was the size of a starter plate had to get another plate to cut my food on. The steak was horrendous no seasoning realy dry and the toughest steak ive ever had. First and only time ill go in here for food and drink.

Let’s explore

It was quiet when we came in for a few beverages. The toilets are clean and the staff are friendly. Darts and pool table to use. There’s outside beer patio out front and a beer garden out back. They do serve food but we didn’t partake this time. We were not staying at this location so I cannot comment on the rooms.

Decided to call in here for a couple of drinks and get some food. The food portions were massive and the costs was good. I could not actually finish what was on my place. I feel this venue is probably taking a slap from the nearby Spoons. Please support them if your passing.

A lovely local pub to pop into. However from the handful of times I’ve been they’ve not had any Prosecco and as a result can’t make certain drinks that are advertised. They also often shut earlier than advertised.
