About Travelodge Newcastle Gosforth

Rooms at Travelodge Newcastle Gosforth are kept simple and functional, with an en-suite bathroom, a comfortable bed and a hot shower rather than any extra frills. It's a fair option for a straightforward overnight stop, though don't expect much beyond the basics inside.

Downstairs there's a restaurant and bar for an evening meal or a drink, and staff on the desk are on hand around the clock. The hotel spans two floors, has accessible rooms available, and welcomes pets, with an electric vehicle charge point and free on-site parking for those driving up, allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.

The location just off the A1 makes it an easy stopover, with Newcastle Racecourse close by along with a scattering of local pubs, restaurants and a Costa Coffee for those who don't fancy venturing far. There's also a golf course nearby for guests wanting to fill an afternoon, and reasonably straightforward access to the airport for early departures.

Don’t get me wrong this is not a five star hotel but it is exceptional value for money. It has very friendly, caring, polite and attentive staff who go out of their way to help and resolve your issues. It is situated in affluent Gosforth and so rounded by a gastronomic pub, McDonalds, Costa and Asda as well as petrol station. It is clean and well equipped. Plenty of car secure parking space. It is a very short drive to centre of Gosforth with access to plenty of takeaways, bars and restaurants and besides A1 to go north or south. I will stay there again.

Very clean place and the receptionist who welcomed me was very friendly and helpful. I gave 3 stars for the service because the check-in was only available from 3 pm, and an earlier check-in costs an extra £15, BUT THE PROBLEM IS YOU CAN'T LEAVE YOUR LUGGAGE ANYWHERE BEFORE 3 PM. As I was only staying one night, this affected my plans and I missed the chance to visit the castle. The location is also quite far from the city centre (around 20–25 minutes by bus). If you're looking for a quiet place, I would recommend it, but for a short stay it may not be the most convenient option. There is a pub nearby, as well as a McDonald's and an Alda Express.

If you want to use your phone, avoid this hotel. There is zero mobile signal in the bedrooms, and the hotel Wi-Fi costs £3.50 a day while moving at the speed of a snail uphill. I asked to change rooms and was told it’s the same everywhere in the hotel. The only reliable connection is outside the building. And yes—this is the year 2026.

Great place to stay for a reasonable price. Always clean, never had any complaints. And to add, there is 1 member of staff that does however go above and beyond without being asked, always friendly & always smiling. A very lovely gentleman, goes by the name of Darren. As soon as we step in and see Darren on the desk we know we are going to be well looked after.
