About North Norfolk Camping and Glamping
Tucked into the stunning 'Holt Hollow' on the outskirts of the Norfolk Coast National Landscape, North Norfolk Camping and Glamping is a laidback, wildflower-meadow site overlooking a lake and acres of woodland. It's the kind of place where kids can spend afternoons building dens in the trees before gathering around a campfire in the evening—firepits and firewood are available on site, and dogs are welcome year-round to join the fun.
The shepherd's huts here are particularly well-equipped and spotless, offering a peaceful escape with attentive staff on hand. Pitches range from solo hiker spots (no cars) to jumbo family tents, all non-electric and set in a genuinely rural location—yet Holt's Georgian streets, shops and restaurants are just a five-minute drive or half-hour walk away. North Norfolk beaches, nature reserves and the Coast Path lie within 20 minutes, making this an ideal base for exploring one of England's most scenic corners.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ What a special little place. From the moment we arrived, Blaze made us feel incredibly welcome. Her warmth, enthusiasm and attention to detail really helped make our stay memorable. The site is so peaceful, beautiful and surrounded by nature. We loved watching the butterflies, dragonflies, birds and bats, relaxing by the campfire, and enjoying the lovely outdoor showers. Every detail has been thoughtfully considered. It’s one of those rare places where you can truly switch off, slow down and reconnect with nature. We arrived needing a break and left feeling refreshed, relaxed and already planning our return. Thank you, Blaze 🥰we were genuinely sad to leave. 💚⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

I feel other people need to be aware of our experience before booking,I feel I have a responsibility to warn other people. Anyone travelling with a dog, young children or anyone sensitive to loud noises. My partner, Andrew, booked a few nights in one of the yurts for my birthday expecting a relaxing and tranquil glamping experience. We both love camping, nature and the outdoors, so it seemed perfect for us. He specifically chose this site because it was advertised and reviewed as somewhere to relax and unwind. He also paid the additional fee to bring our dog, which we completely understood. The first issue was simply finding the place. The campsite is very poorly signposted that we initially drove straight past it. Considering it’s located directly off the busy Norwich to Holt road, where traffic is travelling at 50 mph around a bend. We had to brake suddenly and turn in at the last minute. Pulling back out of this entrance was even worse. The entrance is close to the bend, meaning it is difficult to see approaching traffic clearly. We came frighteningly close to being involved in a collision because of the position of the entrance. Even a worker on site warned us how dangerous the road is. When we arrived, there were builders and loud construction noises around the site. The kitchen area was not clean, and to make matters worse, the yurt door would not lock. We were given a key for a lock that simply did not work, leaving our accommodation unsecured all night. Although we are comfortable staying in tents, when you are paying for accommodation with a lock and key, you expect the basic security you have paid for. The campsite itself is also right next to the main road so there was constant traffic noise that could be heard from inside the yurt, which made it very difficult to relax. Around 100 metres away, bird scarers started firing. Extremely loud bangs going off repeatedly, sometimes three or four bangs at a time, like gunshots, going off repeatedly every few minutes. Our dog is sensitive to loud bangs and immediately became extremely distressed. He was shaking uncontrollably, keeping his tail between his legs and trying to hide. We attempted to take him for a walk, but as soon as another bang went off, he desperately wanted to return inside. Even inside the yurt, the bangs were incredibly loud and he continued shaking. The noise continued until approximately 9:45 pm and then started again at around 4:30 am. The very first bang woke us all instantly. Our dog became hysterical, whining, shaking and hiding beneath the covers. Even without a dog, it would have been extremely difficult to sleep through the volume and frequency of the bangs. The situation became unbearable and our dog’s welfare had to come first. At 6:07 am, Andrew emailed Nigel explaining everything that had happened and informed him that we had no choice but to leave. By 7:15 am we had packed everything up and checked out. We then had to spend more money booking alternative accommodation with an early check in because all three of us were exhausted from the lack of sleep and stress. What makes this even more frustrating is the complete lack of customer service afterwards. It’s now been 3 days since we emailed. We have re sent emails. The only response we have received is an automated message asking us to leave a positive review and saying they hoped we are enjoying our stay. We find this extremely disappointing and insensitive, We were forced to abandon our holiday after one night, spend more money elsewhere, and watch our dog suffer through hours of fear and distress. The least we expected was the courtesy of a reply. Andrew paid for several nights and we managed just one. He paid extra for our dog, yet the environment caused him an unacceptable level of distress. We were unable to complete the holiday andrew had paid for and also incurred the additional cost of finding emergency alternative accommodation. We have been ignored ever since.

There is no doubt that you have a beautiful site. The lake and the woodland area to camp was stunning. We were however very disappointed with the facilities. We arrived on sunday to a full campsite, and Chloe checked us in. After that we didnt see her again which meant the toilets were not cleaned for the following two days. The men's toilets were particulaly bad and the women's had run out of soap, hand towels and only had toilet paper in one cubicle. I texted Nigel on the Monday to let him know but heard no response. I also emailed my concerns on arriving home and still heard nothing back. I was hoping not to have to leave a negative review but the lack of response and care of the campsite has left me no choice. There was only one of the four showers working, which for a full campsite is not really enough. The shower was cold until Monday, when a new gas cannister had been delivered. The last disappointing thing to mention is that the bins were not emptied or cleared at any point during our stay so after the bank holiday they were unsightly and over flowing. I felt sad that such a beautiful spot was not being taken care of, if it was it would have been truly stunning. I wouldn't reccommend this site as it was also very expensive. £70 a night for a large tent, with broken and dirty facilities is not a fair price.

An absolutely wonderful little place!! I was looking for a quiet off grid weekend and this place did not disappoint! Beaut view from the shepherds hut, quiet and so peaceful. If you're looking for somewhere to 'reset" then I can't recommend this place enough. I will definitely be returning!
