About The White Horse, Brancaster Staithe
The White Horse sits on the harbour side at Brancaster Staithe, with an uninterrupted view over the tidal marsh to Scolt Head Island and the open sea. The Norfolk Coast Path runs along the bottom of the garden, and the local oyster and mussel beds are worked from the quay next door. It is a proper inn rather than a hotel, with a busy bar and a conservatory dining room that catches the light off the water.
Fifteen en suite bedrooms are split between the main building and an adjoining single-storey annexe. The upstairs rooms in the house have the best marsh views, and The Room at the Top adds a private viewing terrace and a telescope. The eight garden rooms each open onto their own small terrace, sit close to the coast path and form the dog-friendly section, which makes them popular with walkers. All rooms have large beds, smart TVs, wifi and Nespresso machines.
Food is the other draw. Brancaster mussels and oysters come from a few hundred metres away, fish is landed locally, and the menu runs from sandwiches and shellfish platters at lunch to fuller dinners in the evening. There is a good range of East Anglian ales and a sensible wine list. Breakfast is included, and the terrace is the place to sit on a clear morning as the tide comes in.
The inn suits walkers, birdwatchers, sailors and dog owners more than families with young children, though children are welcome. Titchwell and Holme nature reserves, Brancaster beach, Burnham Market and Holkham Hall are all within a few miles. Saturday stays usually require two nights, check-in is from four o'clock and check-out is early at half past ten, which is worth planning around.

Amazing restaurant overlooking Brancaster Staithe. We visited 3 times on our break to Norfolk as the food, service and ambience was so excellent. From the moment you arrived you were greeted with happy, friendly staff who went out of their way to make sure your time with them was superb. They attention to detail was fantastic. We were served by Dean (Manager), Poppy, Bea and Juliana who all delivered flawless service. We made sure we ate the seafood every night as you could not eat any fresher than what they served. The oysters came from the fishing boats, which you can see from your table, in Brancaster. The smoked salmon is smoked in a small independent smokehouse on site. The lobsters come from Wells Next The Sea everyday and the Crabs from Cromer everyday. We also visited on the Paella night 🥘 . The ambience is perfect and feels like you are on holiday in the South of France. The music and location on the edge of the marsh ties in beautifully with the food and service. We are already planning our trip back to Norfolk to tie in with one of the special food events at The White Horse. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ A huge thank you to Rob and the entire team at The White Horse for making our Saturday evening so memorable. From the moment we arrived, my partner and I were made to feel genuinely welcome and were looked after exceptionally well throughout our visit. The setting is simply breath taking with panoramic views across Brancaster Bay providing the perfect backdrop for a special meal. The food was presented well and full of flavour. The White Horse offers an exceptional dining experience in a truly stunning location. We would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone looking for outstanding food, warm hospitality and unforgettable views. We are already looking forward to our next visit.

Lovely meal in a beautiful setting. The menu was extremely well prepared, balanced and superbly executed. The staff well attentive, knowledgeable and efficient. The courses did follow on more quickly that we anticipated. Very busy for a Thursday night but clearly the fantastic weather helped and it is an obvious choice for special occasion dining. The whole area is well served for quality dining to suit all tastes and budget.

We visit every year and each time is just as good as the last. The food is fresh and delicious. The staff cant do enough for you and the location and sun sets are just gorgeous. By far our favourite pub to eat and soak up the atmosphere from relaxing dinning to pub lunches to festival frolicking by the marshes. Good times and memories created here xx such a hard working team xx
