The Admirals House - Hornblower occupies the second floor of a harbourside building in Ilfracombe, a few steps from the RNLI lifeboat station. You enter into an open-plan living space with a TV and electric fire, a dining area, and a kitchen equipped with an electric cooker, microwave and fridge. One bedroom has a double bed (4ft 6in), the other two singles (3ft). The bathroom has a bath with shower over. Bed linen, towels, Wi-Fi and electricity are all included; a welcome tray comes with the keys. A cot and highchair are available on request.
Street parking is outside, with a public car park fifty yards away if you need it. You share a patio with other apartments on the site. The harbour itself is your immediate backdrop—fishing boats land their catch directly below, and you can buy fresh crab and lobster for dinner. Shops and cafés are a hundred yards away; pubs and restaurants cluster within a short walk. The coastal path begins at the front, leading to Hillsborough Nature Reserve and quieter coves; Hele beach is nearby for swimming or paddling. One well-behaved pet stays free. No smoking inside. The property suits families, couples and holidaymakers, though the garden has steep unfenced slopes and steps that need care.

This was our 2nd time staying in Hornblower at Admiral's House and we loved it. The apartment has stunning views over the harbour and is in a great location situated in the heart of Ilfracombe. The apartment is spacious and well equipped with a useful guide of everything local. It is also spotless and very comfy. Deb is an amazing host, super friendly and looks after everyone so very well. We hope to visit again soon and highly recommend.

We are now booking our third trip. Debs and Al are great. If there is any problem they go out of their way to rectify. It’s an old building and we appreciate it as such. It requires a lot of expense and upkeep by them, and they do their very best. Saying that the location and views cannot be beaten. We love it.

We had stayed in the Hornblower apartment previously but were disappointed on this ocassion. The breakfast bar was wobbly, the windows hard to open, the table was covered in thick dirt that had to be scrubbed off and the sofa had black, greasy hand marks on the arms which we covered with the bedspread. When I made a review on Cottages.com website it was 'partially' removed...ie all of the bad stuff! I shan't use Cottages.com again nor return to The Admirals House

The Admirals house is beautifully decorated and has amazing views over the harbour. The hosts are so friendly and very accommodating.....nothing is too much for them. We stayed in 'fisher' then moved to 'jellicoe' as we wanted to stay longer. I would have no hesitation in recommending this house and hosts to future holidaymakers.
