The Admirals House - Nelson

Ilfracombe's harbour frontage puts this flat at the start of serious walking territory. The coastal path begins on your doorstep, leading towards Hillsborough Nature Reserve and quieter coves. Hele beach is a short walk, and a sandy beach lies directly below. The lifeboat station is close by, and ferries to Lundy Island run from the harbour in summer. You're equally positioned for a quick drive to Croyd and Woolacombe's surf breaks, or for exploring the Victorian cliff railways and open moorland of Exmoor inland.

The Admirals House is a ground-floor property sleeping four across two bedrooms—a four-poster double and two singles. There's one bathroom with a bath and shower, and a living room with television and electric fire. The kitchen is properly equipped for self-catering, with an oven, dishwasher and washing machine. Essentials like heating, electricity, bed linen and Wi-Fi are covered; one well-behaved pet stays free. You have patio furniture outside and on-road parking, with additional spaces in a nearby public car park.

The flat sits among harbourside shops, cafes and pubs within a few minutes' walk, and fishing boats unload their catch daily where you can buy fresh crab and lobster. No smoking indoors.

This was our 2nd time staying in Hornblower at Admiral's House and we loved it. The apartment has stunning views over the harbour and is in a great location situated in the heart of Ilfracombe. The apartment is spacious and well equipped with a useful guide of everything local. It is also spotless and very comfy. Deb is an amazing host, super friendly and looks after everyone so very well. We hope to visit again soon and highly recommend.

We are now booking our third trip. Debs and Al are great. If there is any problem they go out of their way to rectify. It’s an old building and we appreciate it as such. It requires a lot of expense and upkeep by them, and they do their very best. Saying that the location and views cannot be beaten. We love it.

We had stayed in the Hornblower apartment previously but were disappointed on this ocassion. The breakfast bar was wobbly, the windows hard to open, the table was covered in thick dirt that had to be scrubbed off and the sofa had black, greasy hand marks on the arms which we covered with the bedspread. When I made a review on Cottages.com website it was 'partially' removed...ie all of the bad stuff! I shan't use Cottages.com again nor return to The Admirals House

The Admirals house is beautifully decorated and has amazing views over the harbour. The hosts are so friendly and very accommodating.....nothing is too much for them. We stayed in 'fisher' then moved to 'jellicoe' as we wanted to stay longer. I would have no hesitation in recommending this house and hosts to future holidaymakers.
