Fisherman's Cottage suits couples seeking a quiet break on the North Norfolk coast. This single-bedroom cottage sleeps two and comes as a whole property to yourself, with private parking for one car and space for another nearby. One dog is welcome to join you.
The layout is straightforward: ground floor open-plan living and kitchen, where you can cook properly or simply reheat something after a day out; upstairs, a twin bedroom and shower room. Electricity, bed linen and towels are included. The cottage sits at the end of a terrace a short walk from Wells-next-the-Sea's quayside, where fishing boats work the harbour. A mile's stroll takes you to the beach, backed by pine woods and lined with beach huts. The town itself has independent shops, galleries and pubs within a quarter-mile, and a pub sits roughly a mile away. Holkham National Nature Reserve is nearby for walking and birdwatching; Holkham Hall, with its gardens and deer park, is two miles distant. No smoking indoors.

This is a review on Fishermans Cottage, East End, Well Next the Sea. Not to be confused with other Fishermans Cottages in the area. Very cute cottage we booked for the Christmas week. Full of character and adequate for 2 people. HOWEVER: this cottage is freezing. There is a log burner that hasn't been cleaned out and they didn't even provide 1 log to get us started. I know it doesn't say logs are provided but why wouldn't you supply some? I can't believe the stairs are even legal. They are incredibly steep and tight. There is a rope to help you up. The bedroom doesn't have a door but opens straight onto the stairs. The thermostat is placed high up on the stair wall and only 1 of us could reach it. When we arrived it was set to 15C. We turned it up to 25 and 5 hours later it hasn't made much difference. Better information regarding the location needs to be sent out. It took 4 locals to help us find it. There is no on road parking. This information is incorrect. The nearest parking lot is about 0.3 miles away and we paid for a week's parking rather than mess around every day. There's mention of a bench outside to sit on - it's rotten and unsafe. Looking at previous reviews, a lot of the same comments have been made and the owner clearly hasn't bothered to address any of them. Not sure how we ended up deciding on this property when there are so many other options. It has cost us 1000 pounds to rent this cottage - very poor value.

Stayed February 2025 - Great location, nice comfortable king size bed, modern bathroom. No welcome pack, not even a tea bag! Didn’t provide any logs for the first night.( Not very welcoming!) Appreciate its dog friendly but didn’t expect to find other peoples dog hair on the foot stool and floor downstairs, could have been cleaned more thoroughly Description said the stairs are steep; they weren’t wrong they are treacherous, it’s like climbing a ladder and not for the faint hearted! Wouldn’t stay here again for the above reasons

Wow this little gem of a cottage is just magical. This was the perfect little break we needed. Wells is absolutely beautiful, and Fisherman's Cottage is situated in the best location, right on the harbour with a gorgeous walk to one of the best beaches in England I think we've ever seen! You could even see the sea from the bedroom window, the little touches were amazing, from the gorgeous linen to the organic toiletries, the coffee machine & pods, the log burner (even the logs we're provided) the owners really have thought of everything. We genuinely can't wait to return. Thank you Fisherman's Cottage for the most wonderful stay.

We had a lovely holiday staying in the Fishermans Cottages at the beginning of May. It had everything you needed for self catering, with towels and bedding included. The cottage has been recently renovated to a high standard with lovely decoration and finishes. We loved the log burner which made the cottage feel really cosy. The cottage is dog friendly with bed, bowl and even has a shower outside for mucky paws! You can sit on a bench just outside and watch the sea and boats and enjoy the sunshine. It is ideally located to walk to the harbour where you can watch the fisherman come in with the catch of the day. The local beach is amazing and goes on for miles The area is perfect for dog walks on the beach and you can also walk through a nature reserve. Wells-next-the-Sea has a lovely variety of independent retailers including coffee shops and restaurants. We were staying just before restaurants opened for indoor dining however we were able to enjoy takeaway fish and chips from Frenchs and a delicious pizza from the Golden Fleece. We also enjoyed a coffee at BTOI (Bring the Outside In). We noticed that there are also no big retailers, restaurants or coffee shops everything was independent which was lovely to see. There is a Co-op supermarket which is situated slightly out of the town and easy to get to by foot so you can stock up on your essentials. Keep an eye out for the local Alpacas!! that are normally on a trek throughout the town - if you miss them their field is just opposite the Co-op! We would highly recommend it and can't wait to return soon.
