Benson’s Gem
North Yorkshire
Whitby's narrow streets and harbour have drawn visitors for centuries, and staying in the town itself puts you at the heart of it. Benson's Gem is a 17th-century fisherman's cottage on Church Street, within easy reach of the beach, the abbey steps, independent shops and cafés. The whole place is yours alone, with one bedroom sleeping two.
Downstairs is a single open-plan space combining kitchen, dining and living areas, where you can cook properly or simply gather by the electric fire. A utility room with washing machine suits longer visits. Upstairs, the bedroom has a kingsize bed and television. The shower room is modern and walk-in. Bed linen, towels, electricity and wifi are all included. No smoking indoors.
Outside, a private patio with garden furniture and hot tub overlooks the rooftops. On-road parking is about 10 minutes' walk away. Pets stay free. The cottage has been thoroughly renovated while keeping original features like beamed ceilings, and there's a welcome pack on arrival.
