Captains Cottage

Whitby's eastern edge puts you within walking distance of the harbour, abbey and cobbled streets, yet Captains Cottage sits close enough to the beach that sea views reach both the front and side windows. The town's restaurants, pubs and museums cluster nearby, and the Cleveland Way passes through the area for walkers wanting something longer.

This four-bedroom, three-bathroom property sleeps eight and gives you the whole place to yourselves. The ground floor has a living room with a woodburner and a kitchen/dining room fitted for proper cooking, plus a separate toilet. Upstairs, three bedrooms include a kingsize, two singles and a bunk bed, served by a bathroom and shower room. The top floor holds a fourth bedroom with a super kingsize and its own ensuite. Bed linen, towels, Wi-Fi and heating are all included. Parking for two cars is on site; a travel cot and highchair are available if needed.

The cottage is set up for families and groups rather than couples, and smoking is not permitted. The building itself was rebuilt from an old smokehouse with double glazing throughout and efficient heating—practical details that matter when you're staying through winter or making an extended visit.
