Whitby Cottages - Nans Cottage
North Yorkshire

Whitby's ancient centre sits tight against the coast, its narrow lanes packed with independent cafés, shops and pubs that have barely changed in centuries. Nan's Cottage occupies a corner of this history—built where the old smoke houses once cured fresh catch from the sea. The beach is a minute's walk away; the famous cobbled approach to the cottage winds through the heart of the town's character.
The cottage spreads across three floors with space for four. Ground level holds an open-plan living and dining area with a gas woodburner, a fully equipped kitchen (electric oven, gas hob, dishwasher, washing machine), and a separate toilet. Upstairs, a second living room with views over the beach and piers has a sofa bed and a second TV. The top floor has the main bedroom with a kingsize bed. Two bedrooms and two bathrooms in total, each with shower. One small dog is welcome. Essentials like electricity, heating, bed linen, towels and wi-fi are included; there's on-site parking for one car, though the entrance runs through a narrow stone arch.
The cottage suits anyone drawn to Whitby's seafaring heritage and photogenic setting—whether for a long weekend exploring the coast or somewhere to stay put and watch the light change over the water from an upstairs window.
