West Cliff sits above Whitby's seafront, a quieter quarter of the town where Victorian architecture overlooks the North Sea and St Hilda's Church. Dawn's Gem occupies the second floor of one of these period buildings, positioned to catch views across the water from its rear windows. The steep stairs that climb to the flat are narrow and spiral—something to factor in if you have mobility concerns or young children—but once there, you have the whole place to yourself.
The layout centres on a single open-plan living space that takes in the sitting area, dining space and kitchen in one. You'll find a double bedroom with an ensuite shower, a smaller single room, and a family bathroom. The kitchen has an electric oven and gas hob for proper cooking; there's a fridge-freezer, microwave, and the living area includes a TV and DVD player. Wifi, heating, electricity, bed linen and towels are all included. One parking permit comes with the flat. Dogs are welcome at no extra cost.
Whitby's town centre, shops and harbour are a short walk away. The beach, Pavilion theatre and open-air pool lie just a few hundred yards downhill. The steam railway, boat trips and fossil hunting are among the attractions on the doorstep; the North York Moors and prettier villages nearby make appealing day trips. A pub and restaurant sit about 250 yards from the flat.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here over the bank holiday weekend. It was a last minute booking for us as our original place we was staying at cancelled on the morning of our holiday. The apartment was just big enough for the 3 of us, it was very clean and comfortable. We had complimentary tea, coffee, biscuits and wine on arrival 😊. The location is close to the cliff and the beach with the whale bone arch and a 10 min walk into the town center. The bedroom looked a little old but it suited the apartment due to an old fire place being in there but it’s nothing that would ruin your stay. Very satisfied and we would definitely book here again.

Lovely apartment with a fantastic sea view. Well equipped and well maintained. I would highly recommend staying here. The only reason it lost a star on rooms was the sofa was uncomfortable to sit on for long periods of time. Other than that subjective point it's Lovely holiday let. Would be happy to return sometime.
