About The Belfry Whitby
Free on-site parking is not something every guesthouse in central Whitby can offer, but The Belfry Whitby manages it, along with a spot on Church Square within easy reach of Whitby Abbey. It's a family-run B&B rather than a large hotel, and that shows in the calm, unhurried atmosphere throughout.
Rooms are en-suite and kept spotlessly clean, with family rooms available and small thoughtful touches that make the space feel cared for rather than just functional. Guests get free WiFi, drinks in the room, and round-the-clock reception, so arrival times are never an issue. Breakfast is the standout: a full English alongside daily specials, served in generous portions, and kids' meals are catered for too.
The location suits walkers and cyclists heading out along the coast, with fishing, golf, and watersports all within reach nearby, plus pubs, restaurants, and entertainment close by for evenings. Staff are friendly and quick to help with local recommendations. It is a straightforward, well-run base for exploring Whitby rather than a destination in itself, and it does that job well.

What guests say
We had a wonderful stay at the Belfry in Whitby. The guesthouse is in a great location on the West Cliff, within easy walking distance of the town and attractions. Everything was very clean, comfortable, and tastefully decorated, and the room included thoughtful touches such as tea, coffee, biscuits, and bottled water. Breakfast was excellent, with a good choice of cereals, fruit, and a full English or daily specials, all freshly prepared. Parking was also very convenient, with a permit provided on arrival. Overall, a fantastic stay—we would certainly recommend the Belfry and would gladly return in the future.
