Scarborough and the coast are within reach, but Granary Farm Cottages occupies quieter ground on the south-facing slopes of the National Park. Wheatsheaf Cottage sits on an acre of landscaped grounds where woodland, shared gardens and a cabin create the feel of a proper retreat. The farm itself is a mile from Sawdon village, positioning you between countryside walks and the market towns of Malton, Helmsley and Pickering.
This single-bedroom property is arranged over one floor: an open-plan living space with a smart TV and dining area flows into a kitchen equipped for proper cooking, while the double bedroom has an ensuite shower. Your own patio with garden furniture and barbecue overlooks the shared grounds, and you have private parking for one car. Essentials including electricity, bed linen, towels and wifi are provided, plus access to shared laundry facilities on-site. Note that a fenced pond lies 70 yards away in the grounds.
The location suits walkers and cyclists heading into the forest, birdwatchers (Raptor View Point is a short drive away), and anyone seeking dark skies for stargazing. Whitby, York and the surrounding attractions are an easy drive, and there is a pub a mile away with shops three miles distant.

Idyllic. Remote but accessible and with abundantly generous hosts this is a wonderful place in a cracking part of the world. Walks, wildlife and plenty of wind! Thoroughly enjoyed our visit - we’ll be back!

We spent a lovely week in wheatsheath cottage in July, it was very comfortable and spotlessly clean, within beautiful grounds. I would not hesitate to recommend these cottages, a great place to stay
