Hazel

Families and larger groups will find Hazel works well for a shared break. The lodge sits on one level with an open-plan living space that keeps everyone together—a log burner anchors the sitting and dining areas, and large windows frame the water beyond. Three bedrooms means flexible sleeping arrangements; each has a zip-and-link super-king bed that converts to twins if needed. One bedroom has its own bathroom; the other two share a house bathroom. You can cook proper meals in the kitchen, and there's an enclosed decking area outside for eating or simply watching the lake.

The property overlooks Brompton Lakes itself, so you're surrounded by water and open space rather than hemmed in. Everything is accessible on the ground floor via a gently sloping path at the entrance. A pub sits within a mile if you want an evening out. Electricity, bed linen and towels are all provided. One pet is welcome. The lodge does not permit smoking.
