Everything you need for a two-night stay or longer is built into Beech Cottage, a converted sandstone barn on the Newton House Farm site near Whitby. The single bedroom has a zip-and-link bed that splits into twins if you ask, and opens onto an ensuite shower room. Underfloor heating and electric heating keep the place warm, and you have wi-fi, electricity, bed linen and towels all sorted. The open-plan living space combines a sitting area with an electric fire, a dining zone and a fully fitted kitchen where you can actually cook—electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge and freezer all there. A utility room with washing machine and tumble dryer means you can manage longer stays without packing everything twice over.

The cottage sits on one level, which matters if stairs are a concern. You get your own parking space on site, and one dog travels free if you're bringing a pet. Falling Foss waterfall and its surrounding woodland are essentially on the doorstep—woodland walks begin straight away, and the Coast to Coast path runs through the area. Whitby itself is a short drive, with its ruined abbey, fishing harbour and coastal shops all within reach. The Yorkshire coast villages of Robin Hood's Bay sit equally close. No smoking inside.

I camped at this site with my son and partner, as a last minute night away. What was lovely to see, was allocated pitches providing nice spaces between tents. It was not crowded and gave the kids some nice space to play. The portaloos on the site next to the pitch area were clean and the showers and toilet, were adequate. The kitchen access is a nice touch, with a fridge, kettle and microwave. The scenery was beautiful and only a stones throw away from the waterfall. I felt safe, it was quiet and I thoroughly enjoyed my night away. I will absolutley stay again!!

An amazing campsite, novice campers with 2 teenage children ,we were delighted to find this gem of a site , clean comfortable amenities, staff friendly and helpful , we even had a delightful lady deliver our breakfast sandwiches to campsite after she had cooked them . Watching the beautiful border collies bring in the sheep was the highlight of our day ,so talented . Lots to see and do ,the waterfall and little stream was lovely , we all had a little paddle. So close to Whitby and Scarborough , we only stayed 2 days but could easily have spent a week , will definitely be back again . The owners should be so proud of what they offer at such a competitive rate

What a gem of a B&B. It's just off the Coast to Coast route but it's worth the little additional walk. Lovely room with very comfortable bed. Had a great night's sleep. Also I had a bath tub, which is always welcome when walking. I had a prepared meal which was surprisingly good as it was a microwave meal. Breakfast was a very good continental style one. Would happily stay again.
