Scalby Lodge - Fortescue Cottage
North Yorkshire
View on Google MapsScarborough's beaches, shops and seafront theatre are within easy reach, but Fortescue Cottage sits on quieter ground at Scalby Lodge, a clifftop collection of cottages between the town and the North York Moors. The property is yours alone—a single-storey space with two bedrooms and one bathroom, sleeping four. One dog stays free.
Everything happens on the ground floor: a combined living and dining area with a woodburner and French doors opening to an enclosed garden where you can eat and use the BBQ; a kitchen with electric oven, hob, dishwasher and washing machine; a bedroom with a kingsize bed; another with two singles; and a wet room with bath, shower and grab rail. Wifi, heating, electricity, bed linen, towels and wood for the burner are all included. The lodge's games room, with a pool table and selection of books and DVDs, is shared with other properties on site, as is a children's play area. You have your own parking space and one dog can stay at no extra cost.
The Heritage Coast runs north from here, and the Cleveland Way passes nearby for serious walking. The RSPB's Bempton Cliffs bird sanctuary is close enough for a day out. No smoking indoors.

This is our third visit to Scalby lodge, but our first to Fortescue - we hadn’t been here for an hour when my wife had already booked our next trip! There are a number of cottages on site from one bedroom to larger multiple bedroom cottages. All are immaculate as is the public areas lovely little games room for the kids with a good stock of DVD’s and books to grab during you’re stay. Fully recommend this site
